Need Your Help (Anything At All)

Hi everyone. Right, hopefully got my hands on a 4ftx4ftx2ft tank to replace my corner tank. I need to build a good stand for the tank and something that's looks nice and not slapped together. What would be the best thing to use to build the actual frame, then the cosmetic parts can come later...

    Id Please

Many Years a go when i first started with mbuna i had a cichlid just like her, apart from he was a male. Here is the pic of him. Still to this day i dont have a clue what he was (same with your female) I wouldnt say it was a cobalt as the body shape is different as well as the face. She may well...

What Fish Would You Say Is Most Wanted In Aquariums?

Would love a group of these guys but the waters they come from are now protected and not been fished. Impossible to find in any LFS so it would have to a breeder somewhere in the UK that hopefully has some.

Variable Platy Behaviour - (Xiphophorus Variatus)

How long has the tank been running? What's your current water stats/parameters? Does he look ok as far as appearance goes? Did he start to change in behaviour before or after you added the guppies? Hopefully the guppies haven't introduced any nasties into your tank. Always Best to quarantine...

    Replaced Fluval 205 With A New 206

My 205 has just started leaking to, not sure if its the seal. I know it leaks when the water overflows slightly into the gaps where the seal sits. Ive had nothing but trouble with the fluval filters but notice the new range of filters look much more sturdy with the connections to the filter lid...

    Cynotilapia Afra Question

Good to see Steve,Dont forget pics :) The list is good, the only issue may well be the labs and zebra's, sometimes known to interbreed with one another. Thats not to much of an issue, so everything looks good, you excited :hyper: lol?

How Long Would A 2Nd Filter Need To Be In A Cycled Tank

Is the 50L that's full of air a new tank :D? with a new filter im guessing? Which filter will you be adding to the 50L? If your 90L has been running for a good amount of time then the 2nd filter shouldn't take to long to build up some good bacteria. You could just take some media from the main...

    Why Are African Cichlid Agressive?

Is the aggression putting you off keeping african cichlids? They are really not that bad :hyper: As said above, survival of the fittest basically. Even though the lakes are huge, there is huge competition and plenty of predators that share the lake with the cichlids. So trying to survive and...

    Fluval 405 (Update Question)

Got the replacement impeller cover and then the intake decided to loose its suction to the glass and rise above the surface all through the night. Could this of really damaged the impeller? It seems to be still flowing well and perfectly fine. Why does it feel like your going to brake/snap the...

As long as the ones you have ordered aren't too small that they can be eaten( dont look small) then yes, you can add any size to the 10 you will have.

    Need Help With My Ph

Good to hear, Ahh right, One of my LFS gets a lot of its mbuna from Czech. It may well be the bag making the fish look larger lol but if they are at least 1.5" to 2" then a male would be easily visible even when coloured down. Just wait till you get them then see, if they are all females its not...

Fantastic tank mate, They will love all the little crevasses. When you get the limestone, pleaseeee dont fill it lol :hyper: Just keep it minimalistic with a couple of tall pieces with smaller pieces at the base. Have the fish travelled far? Be good to watch them colour up, hopefully within a...

    General Tank Maintenance

All depends on your tank size, what species you keep and what filtration your using etc.. I do 45% weekly water changes on both my tanks, give the sand/gravel a little mix around when Im doing the water change (remember to turn off the filter if you have sand) Usually clean my filters every 3...

    Got An Ok

Depends, roughly 6 to 12 months to reach 2" from fry. Auratus are known for their aggression but i too keep a group of 6 and have had no problems with them what so ever, its usually the females having a rant amongst themselves which is the biggest problem. The male is too occupied digging or...

Good to see the stats looking good still, the KH will be fine once you get the Limestone in there, its fine as it is though.

    First Brood To Keep.

If you doing such frequent water changes with the fry, try and store the water in water barrels (If you have any) you need to match the water as much as possible with temp/ph/ etc.. The fry are temperamental but will soon get some size to them after the first few weeks of them surviving.

    Got An Ok

A lot of people do use egg crates just to be on the safe side, I haven't personally and as you may know the rocks I use are huge and heavy lol. Ok, thats good then. Not saying the labs will breed with the johanni females but if they do your not keeping them so they wont be a problem. Pics will...

    Got An Ok

Johanni's could work, can be aggressive and the females are the same colour of the labs so they may cross breed. If you don't want to keep the fry then these would work. If you wanted to ( I know someone else on here did the same when i asked) you could take pics of the fish at the store and ill...

    Got An Ok

Could do Moby, they to me just seem to always look huge lol (like the biggest 6" fish you have ever seen) Think it's their body+shape. They are quite a chunky, well built fish. 1 or 2 wouldn't hurt in a 50G but they do prefer to be in a shoaling group, love been with their own kind. Its...

    Got An Ok

Just to add to what Moby said, if you do live near the guy who has a good selection then you maybe able to get hold of other species. Opening your options more.

    Got An Ok

Just to add really, I think if your going for 2 or 3 species then keeping larger groups of each is great( Best way for mbuna especially) Very natural too. Id definitely keep mbuna over the peacocks/haps, these will get to large for your tank as they really do need a lot of open swimming space...
