The Aulonocara i think will stay that colour as they are females.

If you want to do a species tank yes that will look great or if you wanted to add another species you could. You have got a 4ft 240L to play with so the tank is shall we say lenient/forgiving. Try the saulosi first and then at a later date if you want another species have a look about and see...

Just to add if it's usually more powerful than it is right now then it could be air locked?

Do you have a lot of media in the filter? It all depend's on the media.You have to look at the advertised flow rates from manufacturers as they will be without media. Take the fx5 for example it advertises a pump output of 2300lph yet it will actually produce far less than that. The fluval G6...

Did you use water from your old tank? Sounds like the bacteria in the filter had nothing to feed on causing a slight crash meaning the ammonia and nitrites have risen. Do you have any other tanks with established tank water or any more established media?

Yeah that's perfectly normal, no matter how much you seem to rinse the sand it still cloud's the tank. After a few hours you will see a difference but it should be crystal clear the next day (Overnight basically) :good:

The cichlids will rip it to shreds lol when the vallis fills out a little more it should be ok, as they seem to leave the vallis alone. Will also look better when i get some colour in there, barely any fish :( To scape with rock its not to bad actually mate, can do quite a lot with the depth...

They should be ok as your's aren't to big are they?? If your a little unsure maybe get a breeder bath and put them in there for a while?

Nice fish again Rio, especially the maingano. The other to me looks like pseudotropheus elongatus ornatus male, these are a very nice species too! The last fish is a Metriaclima Lombardoi male, these can be aggressive lil things but again not always. :good:

Any of the above look nice i think (im even been big headed and think my tank looks good :P ) the 1st pic does look awesome, that's vinny's a friend of mine on a malawi forum hes certainly good with scaping the african tank's. They are all nice in there own way though. Demasoni's can be a pain...

I have got some pics of a friend that has had so many Saulosi species only tanks. Ocean rock IMO is just no where near as nice as other stone's available nor as natural. Ratio wise 3 to 6Male will look good and the rest female or (here's a good idea ;) ) you could do a locale species tank...

Good sized tank, 20 to 30 will easily be achievable. Noo you dont want ocean rock :P go for something like sandstone,granite or limestone looks soo much more natural but you could have the coral sand thats upto you :)
