20 gallon 3spot gourami stocking questions

Here is a video of him. He wouldn't hold still for a picture. Lol.

20 gallon 3spot gourami stocking questions

This is the best fin picture I have of him but I will include a 2nd one too. Here is the 2nd. I can try to get a new one of him if it will help. So, even the harlequins wouldn't necessarily be "good" so to speak by themselves in a 20? If I understood that right anyway? If so I probably...

20 gallon 3spot gourami stocking questions

Ok...so my gourami is still in his 10 gallon doing very well at the moment. And I know I was considering trying out sterbai cories for the tank but they are a bit expensive right now having to order them from online. So....I was thinking...and obviously this would also depend on the gourami...

    White spots on Neons

Ah, I see now. Sorry! My phone didn't show it real big so I didn't see the spots on the tail. But I'm still not sure about the white on the fins and if that is normal for neons or not?

    White spots on Neons

I have to disagree. I think those spots are just some moss behind the fish. The only white I am seeing is on the edges of the fins. And yes, guppies do nip fins if they feel crowded, at least with each other. Also, some tetras (unsure about neons) have white tips to their fins. But I think there...

    Snail feeding. Funny.

    Talking about Freshwater Stingrays

I mostly mean feeder fish from the store. It is a bit different if you do it yourself as you can control the environment and care of the feeder fish and keep them extremely healthy. Pet stores really don't care for anything but the money. Anyway, I agree with Byron and the others. The truth may...

    Water wisteria question

Awesome tank! In a bigger tank I will most likely plant it. Not much space in the 20. Lol.

    Water wisteria question

Thanks again! I think I just need to try and separate them better. They were at first but that was before they got roots and leafed up towards the light. Lol. I think they just got tangled. I need to get in and trim my crypts and swords from their old leaves. The crypts wendtii is looking...

    Talking about Freshwater Stingrays

I have to disagree with you there. People do care if feeder fish die. The ones that know the proper care and truly love what they do. There shouldn't even be feeder fish in my opinion due to the diseases they likely carry. Anyway....that's a different topic. I believe if you really want a type...

    Water wisteria question

Thanks Byron. I don't plan on planting them. I like them just floating. They are still transitioning a bit as there are some old leaves dying back. It just seems like a tangled mess right now. Maybe I can just sort the stems out and lay them on the top of the water better....lol. If that doesn't...

    Water wisteria question

So...my wisteria is doing amazing. Kind if behind in my water change schedule due to dumb headache and then a plumbing issue...so going to hopefully finish my diy python system today! Other plants are still going through their melting phases but hanging in. Lost one coffeefolia due to the...

    EMERGENCY, betta fish in distress!

You said the tank has been running for twelve weeks. Did you actually cycle the tank before you added the fish? Just "letting it sit" like most pet stores will tell you is not cycling. I didn't see anybody ask this question so figured i would. Ammonia and nitrite poisoning can be deadly to fish.

    Mystery snail help!

Yeah. I didn't think it looked right. I mean there's resting but this didn't look like that. I put the blanched carrot in the tank and it looks like one has finally found it! I've only had merited before this and they don't eat the wafers. And I forgot the whole thing about them being sensitive...

    Mystery snail help!

So, the breeder I got my snails from actually emailed me to make sure I got them ok. So I asked her about it. She mentioned to check the ingredients in the wagers for copper. Some snails will react to it. And guess what? The aqueon algae wafers last ingredient is copper sulfate. So...they could...

They didn't seem to eat much of it at all though. And the first one didn't stay on it long before it started doing what it did.

    Quick water change question

Thanks Byron. I didn't think of those aspects of it. I can always do it during the day. It will be easy once I get my system going. I won't have to fight myself to do them. Lol. I absolutely hate lugging buckets back and forth! I would rather not stress the fish as much as possible so want to do...

    Quick water change question

This is the first one. It's not the python itself, but the parts that go into the tank to prevent cross contamination. There are a bunch of YouTube vids on how to make the rest of it. I just bought the python faucet connector and some female connectors from Dr's foster and smith. Bought the hose...

    Mystery snail help!

Shouldn't be a nitrate problem as they have been fine and are now fine again. I don't even have fish in this 20 gallon, just the two juvenile mystery snails and some Malaysian trumpet snails. And I have plants that are mostly doing well. I will check it tomorrow before my next water change (I'm...

    Mystery snail help!

It didn't look like they were just resting. It looked like they were trying to spit something out. Half out of the shell and looking weird and all.

    Mystery snail help!

Ok, crisis averted..I tapped it again and got it to close up. Seemed like sand was trapped on it so I shook it off and then put it up on the wood. It came out and started crawling around. But what the heck happened? Is this normal? Or not? I'm thinking not but first time owning these!

    Mystery snail help!

Ok...so my 2 new mystery snails have eaten the fungus off the wood as far as I can tell. They were going all over the tank today so I put in an algae wafer. Now...these are kind of old but the date says 2019. My pleco Butch seems to be OK with them. But I'm not so sure about the snails. The...

    Quick water change question

Thanks Fluttermouth! I wouldn't turn the tank lights on. Just a lamp in the room. So, on my nights off there is a bit of light to make the tanks not completely dark. But it would just strictly be the water change. If I wad to gravel vac I would do it during daylight hours when lights are on.

    EMERGENCY, betta fish in distress!

Sorry for your loss! Tetras and rasboras would do amazing in your soft water tank. But they need 6+. You would have room for more than that too. In my opinion, I love glowlights. Don't confuse them with glofish, not the same at all! But they are pretty hardy. Very amazing fish and I love their...

    Quick water change question

So, I work nights and sort if keep that schedule on my nights off. I am building my own DIY python system to do water changes on multiple tanks like Rachel o'leary showed in a recent video of hers. So, this wouldn't be vacuuming the substrate, just a water change. But, can it be done at night...

Can't seem to keep my fish alive.

If it happened right after a water change, and the fact you do have city water, they could have potentially added something or done more chlorine than normal and water changes could have been the culprit. I would highly suspect this since your die offs happened right after, especially with the...

Can't seem to keep my fish alive.

Nothing was said about this being a new tank. Some tetras are pretty hardy and if tank bred for a while can adapt. Same with harlequin rasboras as far as I know. I had considered these for a 55 I will set up in the future. (I also have hard water, pH 8.2, and tetras adapted well and we're fine...

    60 gallon stocking

Are you sure it isn't listed on the water authorities website? It may not be called gh and kh. It could be general hardness and alkalinity. You can post the link to it here and someone can take a look just to be sure it's not on there.

    Snails! Mystery and MTS Qs

Thanks! Awesome! Trust me, I'm not trying to encourage it at all. Lol. So far after a full week, and 2nd dose of fertiliser added yesterday, no signs of algea, but I'm sure it's still early. Mostly the food question was directed towards the mystery snails more than the mts. I'm not worried...

    Snails! Mystery and MTS Qs

So far my 20 gallon seems to be going well!! Pygmy chain sword is the only one up in the air, oh well. Anyway....I wanted to get a colony of Malaysian trumpet snails going. 20 gallon update! With pics!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pleco-Breeding-Caves-Variety-Pack-/141731337508?hash=item20ffd89524:g:MzkAAOSwDNdVt~Cs This is what most people get, styles similar to this. Especially for males. This is where they will stake their territory and they would guard eggs and fry so they love these types.
