Gravel To Sand Any Easy Way?

Just done this a couple of weeks ago. There is no easy way of doing it but al least you don't have fish in your tank. Big help right there! Just empty your tank of everything, Water Plants Wood Whatevers in there. Then scoop out the gravel, give the tank a clean and then add the sand and...

    My 1125l Freshwater Aquarium

I hate looking in this section of the forum sometimes, I really do. I now hate my tank. Your tank is awesome by the way. Awesome! You've clearly put a lot of thought, effort, time and money into your tank. Really, well done.

    Bullied Severum

Cheers star4. Glad it worked out too. There's still a bit of chasing going on but they seem to be chasing each other, rather than just1 being picked on all the time.

    Pictures Of My 29g

Some taller plants at the back would look much better, and the small plants you have there would look better in the foreground. And as you say, a background. But otherwise its looking real nice. Not a massive fan of the ship thing, but the tree root looks the part. And I bet your fish love...

    Bullied Severum

I finally got round to getting my other severum back the other night and all seems well. There was a bit of a fight when I put him back in but its all calm on the western front now. The bullied has now become the bully now but its no where near as bad as it was before. So splitting them yo for a...

Is the ef+ got the led light in it? I'm reading mixed reviews about the ones with the light in them having poorer flow compared to the ones without.

Agreed. Belter. Just wish they stayed that size  then I could get 1

    Severum Tank Journal

Ok, update time. I have completely transformed my tank. before... after... Bit of a difference! I have wanted to have sand as my substrate for ages now and finally decided to just do it. Glad I did but I never want to go through that again!!! I got my other severum back last night too...

    External And Internal Filters

I did for a while, but it was just for extra flow as my external is pretty slow but I got a powerhead to replace it.

Which Filter Is Best For 4ft Tank

Go on ebay and look up all pond solutions external filters. 2000lph is the 1 for me. Can't wait to get 1. There about £70 roughly. Don't know what that is in $$$ but is imagine its roughly the same :good:

Which Filter Is Best For 4ft Tank

I'm pretty much on the same boat as you. I'm looking to upgrade my external filter for 1 that's more powerful. I recently changed from gravel to sand too and its fine with my external. It's only 800lph though. I'm looking for something around 1500lph now. My tank is also 4foot
  18. garyspence84

    All Pond Solutions Filters

I've saw some threads on here about them and not too much negative talk so far. Regarding flow. Would it be an idea going for the 2000 lph for my 240ltr tank or would that be overkill. I currently have an ehime pro which is 800lph and its nowhere near as powetfull as I would like it to be. I...

    All Pond Solutions Filters

I'm looking into buying a new, more powerful external filter for my 240ltr tank. I have come across these line of filters and there VERY reasonable indeed. Does/has anyone have any experience with these filters as they look too good to be true to me! I'm currently drooling over the 1400 EF+...

    Yes, I Know. Another One.

An angel will be fine with discus. Pretty sure they live together in the wild. I kept an angel with my discus for years without bother. Rams will be fine too, in fact, they look amazing alongside discus. Your kribs will not be ok in the long run though, they prefer cooler water. In saying that...

Pic's Of New "sand" Set Up

Cheers for the kind words guys :) much appreciated! Jim. Before this set up I have now it was a fully planted discus tank and I've (for now at least) vowed to never go down the planted route again. But your absolutely right, real plants would look amazing, I just can't really be bothered with...

    Have Just Failed Twice!

Jeez oh! Nightmare material! I've done that with a small pleco before. Took out a piece of bogwood, checked it too, to make sure is wasn't there. Cleaned it, leaving it out the water for about 20 mins. Then my Mrs said "there's something moving on that wood". Sure enough. I am a plonker...

    New Member , Hello

A friend of mine had 1 a years ago, it grew to about 10" or more. It was funny the 1st time it shed its shell. We tried to get it out bit he wouldn't let anyone near it. Was a crazy we crittor. Used to climb up the bogwood to greet you at the lid when it was feeding time.

Pic's Of New "sand" Set Up

Cheers David :) I've had years of carefully balancing bogwood on rocks and more wood to try fill the higher end of my tanks, glad I found these pieces on here (forum) so I now no longer have too.

What Goes Well With Cardinal Tetras And Cherry Shrimp?

If you have the patience for them, I would say dwarf gourami's would look nice in that set up. Means you would have all levels of tank covered. Shrimp at the bottom, cardinals mid water and dwarf gourami at the top :good:

    Stocking Edits. They Never End.

No, Malawi cichlids wouldn't be suitable with your current stock. But if you were to look into keeping severum, firemouth or maybe rainbow cichlids, they would be fine with your current stock list. Your right in thinking cichlids are not the most comparable with most plants though. You would...

  31. garyspence84

    Stocking Edits. They Never End.

Well if you want colour, amd your ph is at 8, why not embrace it and go down the Malawi route? The high PH will be to your advantage and they are VERY colourful.

How Can I Make My Tetras Shoal Together?

It might not seem that fish are shoaling together because its a smaller tank. Of fish were in a longer tank, say 130ltr for talking sake, of would look more like they were sticking close by 1 an other. But I may be wrong? Bit don't go buying a bigger, "more aggressive fish", it'll no doubt just...

    Aquarium Weight

I lived in a 3rd floor flat, made out of council wood and bricks and had 2x 4foot 250ltr tanks, a corner 200ltr tank and a 3foot 180ltr tank and survived to tell the tale  I think you'll be fine.

What Type Of Fish Is This?

Looks like a hillstream loach to me. Nice fish.
  36. garyspence84

Anybody Like The Look Of This!

I think it has huge potential! Loads of nice rooted wood, plants and loads of different shoals of fish. In a tank like that, you would really see the difference in bottom dwellers, mid water and high water swimmers. Wouldn't fancy cleaning it though, especially the bottom.

    Dead Tree Aquascape

Brilliant idea! I'm going to try this out on my house plants. Great tip :good:
  39. garyspence84

    Dead Tree Aquascape

Is it just me or does not having the silly ship thing make your tank look smaller? I no its a small tank. Think because it was long it gave the illusion of length in there? Maybe I'm tripping? But anyway. As usual Ross.... Looking good. It's weird seeing you use plastic plants though?
