Fluval 205 Filter

good evening all just curious to what the max length of the pipes can be ? i know it says a max of 4.5 ft between bottom of filter and top of tank , but i am unable to run pipes direct because the unit is against the back wall ( so i would have to run pipes from below tank to edge of tank then to top of tank , approx 5.5 ft ) would that work or not
