the body looks like a rocket clown killi. (I only know this because I've been obsessed with killis lately) but they have color at the ends of their tails...but maybe not when young or maybe only a certain gender? I'd google that name....it could be that. also kind of looks like a bumble bee...

Thanks for the great tips and although I think my LFS is pretty good/reputable I never trust the plants in their tanks to not bring in anything unwanted. I just want to take precaution. I'll look into the two places you mentioned though.

I think I will give it a try. I use to have more plants than I knew what to do with but my numbers have dwindled since I stopped using flourish excel (for a few reasons). I now only use a little bit of flourish comprehensive with water changes because I use half ro and half tap. Apparently...

What is "cu"? I'm concerned with any and everything that could disrupt my tiny little tank. I'd love to "dip" my plants but I don't know the proper parts/amounts.

Just rinsing alone will rid these plants of the bleach?! I just keep thinking that the teeeeeniest amount of bleach left on any plant is enough to wipe out my entire tank because it's so small. This is what I worry about. I agree and if my tank were larger than a teeny little cube I'd be ok...

What a great idea! This is how my first few attempts at veggies went also. My endlers are far more feisty and aggressive than the chill otos. So I would put something in the tank that they couldn't resist that would fall to the bottom (where the otos never go) like a piece of an algae wafer...

My LFS still does the air in the bag as well, which is nice. But man, they need to work with their people about being more gentle! To be fair most I've seen are really skilled and good but I think this one was frustrated at how quick and nimble the otos can be.

I think the trick with ottos is getting them passed about a month in your tank ...getting them healthy from their tough journey being caught and whatnot (I've read that they drug them to catch them) and most in pet stores are stressed and unhealthy. Unless you can get tank raised. I bought...

Otos are super fun little fish if you can manage to keep them alive. I'm always worried they won't have enough food so I make sure they get veggies once a week (which the rest of the inhabitants enjoy as well). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I boiled the heck out of my spider wood then soaked for days. I got most of the tannins out but it still did what you're seeing when I added to the tank. I learned that it's just the organics still in the wood coming out. Mine went away in about two weeks. My fish, shrimp and snail loooooved...

I've heard of some real doozies that LFS tell people but telling them they sell "cycled water" is a terrible and harmful lie. Glad you have test kits and siphons and buckets waiting!
