I had actually read that, and snooped around on line quite a bit but couldn't tell if mine was just a chubby girl or pregnant. Everywhere says females are more "round bodied" which she certainly is, but seems a little extreme.

oh and also...if it does lay eggs, how long until they hatch? if they do...if they don't, will the shrimp eat them?

I agree that would be unsightly ...and icky. I was told that as long as you only keep one they will stop laying eggs as they're aware there's no chance for reproduction?! I'm not sure if that's correct or not but I can tell you that I've only ever had one and it never laid a single egg. **...

Hello, I just read thru this post and would love to see a picture of the tank now! I adore endlers, but sadly my water is too soft to keep them. They are very active and come in beautiful colors (as do male guppies). Sorry about the one you lost. Also wondering if your shrimp is still with you...

I too have some neocaridina (blues and blacks ..and combos of each) and they are wonderful little cleaners and tons of fun to watch!

Hello again! I feel like you do way too much with your tank and water before having any real answers about your parameters. You need to find these out before getting any fish. You must have spent a fortune on fish so far and I feel that the ones you bought are not at all suited for your water...

Oh man, this is looking great and seems to be a happy home to all of it's inhabitants. I'd love to hear if the beta is hunting the shrimp now that she's alone with them in a small space. I understand her eye site isn't good? Seems like a perfect home for her.

That does seem to be accurate. I've had just the one for a bit over two years now and have never seen him eating anything that I've put in as a treat (algae wafer, blanched veggies...etc). But he's always active and cleaning and eating whatever he's finding around the tank. I've often wondered...

My vote is for a Nerite! They are stunning little snails with various patterns which are most always beautiful. They work tirelessly to keep the inside pristine and can not reproduce in fresh water. I only have one and because he/she knows it's the solo snail in the tank it doesn't even lay...

you say lightly planted... not much room for them to hide and you have the cpd (which are kind of crammed into this small tank and need more room to swim about as they are active). My guess, is they're chasing and stressing the shrimp. Also I think CPD need harder water than you have? I...

It IS a huge swing! *And I didn't meant to call it a "softner".....I always revert back to my childhood house that had one and apparently we had very hard well water and that contraption softened it... but in this (my house) it does the opposite... sorry.* But back to the difference in water...

My tap is a 50/50 mix of direct well water/tap run thru softner using crushed coral. The mix parameters are: PH: 6.2-6.8 KH: 0-40 ppm chlorine: zero GH: 75 ppm Nitrites: zero Nitrates: 10ppm Once in the tank the parameters (some) go up to: PH = 7.6 TDS = 187 KH = 40 - 80 ppm GH = 75 - 150 ppm...
