I know this probably gets asked a lot...
But I'm going to ask opinions on what's best to feed the inhabitants of a tiny aquarium.

I have 6 ember tetra, 6 dwarf shrimp and one nerite snail.

I'm looking for fish food for the tetra, it would be a bonus if the shrimp liked it also.
***I do blanch veggies for the shrimp and snail***

I've read a lot about New Life Spectrum and they do have one for small fish, but on line reviews say that it's still too big for ember tetra?
Do I have to do a flake? And if so...any recommendations?

I've also heard people mention Ken's fish stuff but that was mainly for sinking shrimp veggie sticks with calcium.
I see they make flake food too...anyone have any input there?

I use New life Spectrum, to big? No problem.

Use a pepper mill.

I do not have shrimp, but I do have a group of Ember Tetras in my 40g with the false neons and pencilfish. Like all my fish, they receive New Life Spectrum flake; the micro pellet (0.5 mm) might be too large, I did try this once but many of my fish didn't seem particularly fond of the pellet, even after I had been feeding it until it was gone (alternating with other foods, I feed something different every day), so I stopped it.

There is a new food out, Nutrafin's Bug Bites. I feed this one day. My only negative on this food is that it sinks fairly quickly; it will float until the surface is disturbed by the fish feeding, then it all seems to start sinking. But it is a nutritional food, made from bug larvae and shrimp meat, and to the fish seems to replicate bugs so they started gobbling it up from the very first feeding.

The third food I use alternating is another flake, Omega One's Veggie Flake (their Kelp Flake is much the same). Nice thing about flake foods is you can crush them as small as you like, down to powder, though I would not go this far.

I always like to alternate foods, and three seems to do the trick. I also alternate sinking foods for the bottom feeders. Shrimp would likely enjoy sinking foods like the Omega One Veggie Round or Kelp Round.

Ha! pretty good idea but I'd be way too scared that I wouldn't clean it 100%

Perfect, I will order the flake today. Anyone that's tried the micro pellets with ET seem to say the same...too large, although Neon Tetra seem to do just fine.

Nutrafin's Bug Bites
I googled these. Pretty cool!

Who wants to eat the same thing at every meal?! ....well I could probably eat nachos all day, every day :)

I use a small pestle and mortar to crush pellets a bit smaller. I just wipe that out and put it back in the fish-things cupboard.

That’s a great idea. My “fish things cupboard” is out of control and I only have a 6 gallon tank! Ha
