Would it be alright if I did a bare bottom for a fry raising tank and put some black paper under there so they can tell it is the bottom?

I had a female blue mickey mouse breed with a red wag male the male fry once about 6 months old where red/dark orange with wag tails and a slight mickey mouse pattern near the tail while the females where pale orange with almost a blue sheen to them and black tails with a slight mickey mouse...
