I have a green algae on 2 rocks and one piece of wood, I used boiling water, on one rock and it killed the algae completely, I know these pieces hold bacteria, would it be okay to remove one at a time weekly, treat with boiling water, then returning without causing a spike in the aquarium.

Thanks everyone , no air-conditioning, being a beginner I maybe panic too much, it has dropped to 25. 7, I will set up some water in a bucket and test out the other thermometer to sit about 24c, it should be okay, as its a decent fluval and is only months old.

Thanks for that, I don't really like using algae cleaners, but I have used algexit before and never had a problem, I have dosed it again, you give it 4 goes, so next will be my my third dose, but you have got me a bit worried using it.

Colin. As you can see pouring boiling water on it appears to have revived it. It is now really green again.

I wish my tank to have a temp of 24 c, which my Aqua heater pro digital reads constantly, as its set for 24c but my fluval digital temp is constantly reading 23.6 c, is this okay for a community tank, or should I change the heater to read 25c and this would probably give me a reading of 24c.

I tried the hose and it didn't shift it, I then poured boiling water on it to kill it and have put it back, I was thinking of power washing it, but think that would maybe have been a bit drastic.

can I take this wood out of the tank, and what would be the best way to clean it, and then return it to the tank, it's the green algae. Or do I have to leave it as I have ottos, I'm currently dosing with Algexit. But hasn't made much of a difference, it has had two doses, so another two to go.

Don't know what happened, anyway thrice I've made sure everything is okay, I open the handles to let the water in, and it floods out the side, finally got it right after three goes and water on the carpet I could have done without
