hi, I'm always looking for aprovements, I have two Fluval external filters and have been looking at changing tubing and adding lily pipes and clear hose, I've been looking on line and it's looks like I would need lily pipes at 17mm and 16/22 tubing, is this correct, and how to connect the pipes especially to the filter aqua stop,in otherworld is it easy?

What's a lily pipe?

I would take the joiners into a hardware store and match up the hose with the joiner. Then use the Fluval hose clamps or a normal metal hose clamp.

Whatever you do will be under pressure and prone to detaching. I had to look up the term 'lily pipe'. My Eheim came with them, while the more recent fluvals don't.

Clear hose will also not stay clear for long, and growth inside the hoses could become an issue. I've always thought that was the reason manufacturers went with darker hoses. Clear will get ugly fast, and may become inefficient.

Thanks already I'm going off the idea, might as well keep it as it is.

Clear hoses can be hosed out and if it gets really gross, you can shove a bottle brush down there. And if it's really really bad, take the hose off and pour some bleach in it, put something in the ends and slosh it about, wait an hour then rinse it out.

The lily pipes ate made of glass, on YouTube you seem to just slip them over the tube end, it looks like they are held on the tank with one sucker, they trim the end of the pipe that goes on the filter, so the filter connections go on tightly, and that's it, you wouldn't need a joiner. I have measurements they say to have, so can buy both on Ebay or amazon.
