I have had problems with Angels being in adjacent tanks, flaring and trying to get to one another to the point of injuring themselves, let alone in the same tank.

I will use a pre filter on my Fluval 407. The intake screen is larger, so if you use a sponge you might want something the size of an Aquaclear 70 sponge.
