Hi Guys, I wanted to post one of the full tank so you can see what the plants look like now. I am going to put a CARBO-PLUS unit in there today. I,ve been reading some bad reviews about them lately so I hope I haven,t wasted my money. I,ll post another pic of the whole tank in about 2 months to...

    Barb ?

In my short experience with the TBs, everytime they done that there was something wrong. The first time the nitrite levels were too high, the second time there was an outbreak of itch. The TBs seem to be the first ones to show a sign that something is wrong. To me it looked like the fish that...

    Planted Tanks

I purchased a gravel vacum last week even though I didn,t think I would need it as my tank is fairly well planted. This morning while doing a waterchange I used the gravel cleaner for the first time since setting up my tank (its about 10 weeks old) All I can say is WOW, I thought the gravel...

    Some questions on fishless cycling

Thanks to all the replys. As you say AA, people are reluctant to change and thats exactly why I felt compelled to question the theory but you have cleared many things up. Wether or not I cycle with fish in my next tank, I am now armed with the knowledge of both methods so thankyou. As for the...

    Some questions on fishless cycling

Hi Anna, I know you are a keen advocate of fishless cycling as are a lot of people on this forum. I have some questions for you and anybody else who cares to answer. Before anybody jumps down my throat, please note this is not an attack on fishless cycling, merely an unbiased observation. 1...

Green is out, Brown is in.

Brown algae and Green algae never seem to be together, I might be wrong but most people here say they get rid of one and then the other becomes active. Is there a relationship between the two?

Hi Toni99, as you can probably gather, I,m in oz too. Most of the fish species on this site I find we have, sometimes they've got a different common name though. Which species did you not know? PS: Who are you going for in the final tommorrow, Com,on the PIES!

    Invisible Brillo

Hi Anna, I just want to say a BIG BIG SORRY if I offended you in anyway. :( It was never my intention to undermine the great work you do here. I agree the planted tank can be a pain in the rear sometimes. My bristlenose cats love frozen peas too. Again sorry.

    Carbon Plus

Hi Bubble, is that the zac carbo plus unit using the carbon plates you are refering to? I have one on order myself. Its another way of putting carbon dioxide for the plants into the water. Its only harmfull to the fish if the levels exceed the recommended 10-15ppm which shouldn,t happen if you...

How do you get Scratches off a glass tank???

If the scratches aren,t too deep you can rub them out with toothpaste. If you use a buffer with glass polish keep in mind if the glass gets too hot from buffing it can explode.

how many heaters and what wattage?

BadKarma, I have the same tank dimensions as yours and one 150watt does the job nicely, dosen,t switch on and off too frequently. You could go the two 75 watt heaters but personally I think they are ugly looking things that take up room inside your tank so to me one is better than two for that...

    Silver mollies-help!!!!!

Hi Christine, I started to cycle my tank with 2 platties, everything was fine for a week but I made one big crucial mistake, I put more fish in before the cycling was finished(about 3 weeks it took).I lost 30% of my livestock.
