Yes, I did notice that there were Angels in there - Maybe not the best idea, but the betta themselves are fine, and without any problems. Guess he's got some laidback angels haha.

I'd suggest ember tetras, six of them. When, and if, you choose some at a lfs make sure to get the LARGER ones out of the pick. We had a case where we bought some, and the smallest immediately became our bettas snack.

  He's definetly not being overfed, I'm very careful on how much I give him. Bacterial Infection, maybe - but the treatment doesn't do anything, so perhaps not. I haven't seen any odd behaviour, so I doubt parasites, and he hasn't managed to injure himself. (He's the only fish in the tank)  ...

Having female bettas in a tank of that size would limit me to only 2, and two females in a small space are likely to fight with eachother, often one overpowering the other and stressing it out.

I do already have two bettas (: And only ended up with the one who was in the tank thats now empty because I rescued him as he was dying in the LFS. Unfortunatly, he only lasted a few more days. And yes, it does limit ):

Breeding bettas is very time-consuming. You let the male view the female for a few weeks, she'll get eggy, and hopefully he'll make a bubble nest in his tank. Then when she's ready, you move the female in. They mate, the female sinks to the bottom of the tank and appears to be dead - remove her...

Catfish don't eat fish waste as far as I know.
