The simple answer is absolutely NOT!!! The 'plastic hood support' as you call it is in fact an integral structure designed to strengthen the tank and to stop it bowing under the water pressure. Tampering with any kind of tank bracing will compromise it's integrity.

    Bogwood & Rocks

Hi, only wish to add that some amount bog wood can lower the pH value of the water (acidic) which can slow up or even stall the filter cycling process. Best to keep an eye on the pH while checking your ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels during your fishless cycle :good:

    Altolamprologus Calvus Breeding Advice

Well, during my water-change I transferred approximately half the fry from the shell to a specially adapted breeding trap. Then, after making sure there was no trapped air in the shell and that the remaining fry were safely tucked in, I replaced the shell in it's usual place. I am glad to say...

    Can I Use Beach Sand?

    Gap Under New Tank

Firstly do NOT put any soft material under the tank!!!!!! The black lower lip of the tank is designed to sit flat on a hard surface. The fact that yours is only touching in a few places would suggest that the stand you are using does not have a true flat top. I would suggest a proper...
