I have owned firemouths, many in fact. None have ever caused me trouble. This is just my experience and as Randall has said not all are the same.

The temperament of Fire mouths isn't close to that of red devils. The FM's are much more peaceful.

Jurapari are Satanoperca jurapari these days, not Geophagus jurapari. I'm not that sure what the most common Geophagus is, depends where you are, Geophagus brasiliensis seem to be fairly common.

Mollies need salt, Link. I wouldn't be the loaches and angelfish in a brackish tank for any length of time, they may do fine with the salt for a while but long term I wouldn't think it would be great for them.

Severums with plants will not work, the plants will be ate.

What species of Geophagus? Angels, rams and apisto's will work, firemouths could cause problems but they may not. The Geophagus depends totally on the species.

Central American and South American cichlids that could work include: firemouths, convicts, salvini, sajica, HRP, blue acara, angels, some species of Geophagus, some species of pike cichlid, Jack dempseys, rainbow cichlids etc. etc. Smaller cichlid options would be checkerboard cichlids...

Mine were breeding so often (2-3 times a week between them), I struggled to give them away, ended up using most of them as feeders.

Julidochromis of some sort, I'd guess at Julidochromis transcriptus or Julidochromis marlieri. Should be on this list somewhere. And the other I'd go with Aulonocara. Aulonocara sp. "Stuartgranti Maleri" maybe? Full list of Aulonocara.

Are you sure B = 40mm? As that's only 4cm? I don't have the filter in question, just pointing that out....

2 would be more ideal though. 4 would make territorial issues even with many caves.

I agree that variety is a good idea. Though I can see the point of the argument about how fish food has been designed to fulfill all the needs of our fish. I just find a variety is good for the well being of the fish.

You can't just simply remove the female. Spawning requires both male and female to be present for viable fry. The male will need to fertilize the eggs as they are laid. They are not live bearers. Quote taken from the zebra danio profile

Depends on what they are fed to get into condition, though being convicts I wouldn't be surprised if they bred in a week. 3 months is a long time, they could breed a lot earlier than that. There are many reports of peoples convicts spawning at 1" to 1.5".

How old they are depends on many things, it's virtually impossible to tell from just pictures. How old they are in relation to how big they are depends on diet, temperature they have been kept in, genetics of the fish, what the water has been like etc.

Fire mouths are from Central America, not the Amazon in South America. Also the butterfly fish are from the Congo. I would say the pictus would stress the cories, my pictus used to dash all around the tank making everything get out the way. I wouldn't bet on them each sticking to either gravel...
