It says in my little book that the fluorescent tube should be changed yearly as it degrades in quality after time even though it still comes on. So off I trot to my local pet shop to purchase one where I am told that this isn't true, they can last upto 5 years. Anyone know any better? Cheers...

Okay, I was just thinking today that when I top-up my bacteria every 2 weeks or so, I add it to the tank water. Is this right? It just occurred to me you might need to add it to the filter? Probably a stupid questions but I thought I'd make sure. Andy.

Hi I am thinking of setting my tank up for Barbs. Is this suitable? And how many would you put in there. I was looking to put only tiger\albino\green barbs in there. Some sort of combination. Does anyone else do this? Cheers Andy.

I think I will have to make a trip to my local pet shop to see what is available. If you don't filter the water, is it just a matter of vaccing the gravel and doing water changes? Also, I would like plants, but then you would need lighting which may not be available in smaller setups? Cheers all.

My Betta had a 'thing' for orange platy's. Everything else he would leave alone (guppies etc). I once bought a small female platy. I floated her in the tank and he started circling her, so she went straight back. he's left us now anyway. RIP Mr T. :sad:
