Ok, dont know quite how i will do that because it is in the tank. All mine says is a 10% water change is recommended after termination of the problem. Think i will leave it in for a couple of days and then do a partial water change. Do you think that will be ok?

Just thought i would update you. Lost the Tiger Barb this morning. Due to a mistake with our timings we werent able to get to the LFS so had to go to Pets at Home. Only thing i could find for flukes was King British Methylene Blue. Added this to the tank in the dosage suggested. I never...

Sorry i must have confused you. The water quality is fine and the tank was cycled first. I simply meant that all the fish were added over a 2 week period really. They have not been in bad quality water.

180 litres in tank. We have surface agitation via the spraybar on our ehiem 2236 filter. Lots of bubbles. Will have a look through that second link and prob buy the required stuff tomorrow. Hope to save the rest. Reckon we put too many fish in too quick. My fault entirely, didnt realise it...

I am doing a fishless cycle, the stats from 1000 hrs this morning are Ammonia 00 Nitrite 1.6 Nitrate 100 + I'Ve read that the only way to reduce nitrate is to do a water change so i am doing that right now.

So here are my stats if anyone would care to give their opinion Yesterday at 2000hrs: Ammonia 1.2 Nitrite .5 Tonight at 2000 hrs: Ammonia 0 Nitrate 1.6 Nitrate 100+ Does this make any sense? Do i still have to feed ammonia to keep the bacteria alive? Thanks again in advance Glen

So a good way would just be to get mature media and put fish in straight away with the cycling as the bacteria is allready there?

So if all stats are zero how long before the bacteria dies off? i mean if they zero at midnight you wont know till the morning at best so how long before it dies off, and how long will it take for fish to dump and pee enough ammonia to get the filter bacteria working again?

I maybe talking out of turn but surely the casulaties will not happen so soon, its only when the effects of the bad water takes hold will you see a problem. Just my thoughts. (i'm probably wrong)!!

Thanks for all advice Ok so heres the update: Tank drained and refilled with clean water added the water conditioner and 10mls of ammonia. Everything but lights switched back on. Will check levels 2000 hrs thursday. I will now have clear water to check with, as the tinged water was not gving me...

thanks for your advice, Thought it would be a good idea to check levels at all stages just so i can see drops or rises.

What i didn't what to do is put too much in that couldn't be converted in say 12 or 24 hours, i put around 15ml or so in on the 28th dec. So a good water change, test to check no or little ammonia add a few ml of ammonia then test again, then leave 12 hours then test, then leave a further 12...

Thanks irf, thats what i think is best, would only a few drops of ammonia be ok ? its 180 litre tank, dont worry i'm NOT about to add fish.
