my mums got a betta in a bowl at room tempurature. its got a fine littel life, i change its water and feed it, its got lots bigger and is a nice red and blue enriched albino colour.

because they rely on eachover, u cant chop a fish that lives upside down on the bottom of its larger twin off, and then expect it to live a normal life. they are functioning perfectly fine, so why make their lives harder by cutting them up? at least they are healthy

as far as cichlids go oscars are quiete forgiving in temprement so its more common they get picked on then be picked on ive seen some mean individuals though so keep an eye, but i think it should be fine. when my uncles tank broke i had to look after his 2 14" oscars temporarily in a 4ft tank...

my tetratec cannister filter broke, and they were out of parts so i had to go for 8 months without a tank beacuse they couldnt ship the parts from their headquarters in germany. so if u can get hold of replacement parts i would do it. in the end my lfs ordered some in from a supplier who luckily...

i got 2 of them and one died shortly after arival whcih was pretty annoying but the second one lasted years, it was with central americans, african cichlids, bichirs, even a florida gar. it was indestructible. so if yours is anything like mine it should be fine with anything :hyper: Super-cory

from what i understand these fish both have similar peacefull yet territorial nature, and as i can get hold of them both, if i got the 2 of them as juvies, and put them in my 75g with seperate territorys etc? im just curious as wether its doable as they are both beautiful fish and together...

i googled and some people have 15 year old specimens that are only 6". they have the ability to get very large, and if they did it would take a very very long time so i dont see the problem

Tank Project After having a really good idea of a tank, im embarking on creating it exactly how i imagine it! the tank is already mature and sofar has a senegal bichir and a small (hybrid jade eye) cichlid. i will update this thread when each phase is complete and take pictures every week...

ive heard of people crossing male RD with the female BP's to make king kong parrots. but i think its only like 10% of the fry that will carry parrot shape genes. the rest will just look like RD. ive never tried it, but its what ive heard

as zawiha kindly explained they are probably just deformed. you see alot of "short bodied" cichlids these days, wether they are born like it or manipulated when young is unknown.

no BP's on there though... i like the fact they guarantee live fish the next day, but not much of a selection

i read on Cichlid-forum that the females have a black mark on their dorsal fin, and males lack this is this true? and is it everpresent from the 1"+ mark or does it appear at 6" or so? anyone got an pics to prove this?

ive had bichirs before and i love them so they are always a good choice, i really like the look of pictus cats, any other cool looking catfish you can recomend? also id prefere to avoid plecos as they are poo machines and get huge
