    Ugh... Whitespots!!

Feline, your tank is just now starting its cycle. The best thing to do in my opinion right now is to keep the platy and maybe the two swords as they should be hardy enough but take everything else back to the lfs. The clowns definitely will not survive the cycle and its likely the others won't...

    Our fish

I don't even try to use the flash anymore. If I use it then they go up and hit the top trying to jump out. Just the sight of that little silver box and they are trying to get away.

    Our fish

They are tuxedo platys. The oldest are about a month old and are getting quite large now. The youngest are only a few days to a week old. They are very brave and think nothing of swimming around all over the tank! Here is a pic of one of the adults................

    Sick Oscar

Hi and welcome! I don't know a lot about Oscars as the one I had never got sick. I am doing some research for you as I type this.......not sure what I will find though. I would think that you have contracted some type of fungus or something of that nature from the feeders. Having no idea what...

    Our fish

Thanks Puffer! About the G. Bahia Red, no that isn't her home. She was just going under there to hide because they are all very camera shy! If I didn't have a lid on the tank they would jump out when I come around with the camera. I can be 6 feet away and if they see the camera, they won't...

    Swordtails

We have a marigold swordtail male, his is really handsome. He has orange and a bit of yellow with the black tail. There are different colors available. Look around cause there are more than just red varieties.

    nitrite

Normally our nitrates will test from 10 - 30 ppm. The only time we have 0 is right after a water change. From what I have seen, the nitrates are not nearly as dangerous to your fish as the ammonia and nitrites are. I would just keep testing everything daily for a week or so to make sure that...

    I need a bottom feeder

I'm not sure about those particular ones. I would think some corys would be ok. We have an albino and an emerald cory in our 55 and they are all the time scooting around eating stuff off the bottom. Everyone says they need to be in groups of 3 or more but our two seem to be quite happy. We...

    I want a betta

I bought a betta that was in blue water a few months ago and I had a lot of problems with him and ended up losing after about 2 weeks. First he got ich and then he started dive bombing the gravel and would stay in there with his nose stuck down in the gravel. I tried to treat him but had no...

    Goin to Mexico

I have read where those vacation tablets can release things into your water, phosphates and such that can mess up your water parameters. I would be careful about using them as there has to be some binding agent holding them together. The ones I have seen look like plaster anyway.j I think the...

    Friend at work

Thanks for the replies. I really just wanted to get some other opinions as he is asking me for advice and I truly don't know what to tell him......even 10 years ago when I knew nothing about cycling a tank, I at least took the chlorine/chloramine out and did water changes and vacuums. Oh well...

    ich......

Please go back and check your thread in Tropical Chit Chat for the link to where we all discussed this before for Tanked. In future, it will be less confusing for all if you will limit your posts on the same topic to one thread. Thank you!

    ich.......

After the clown loaches died, did you continue the full treatment of the ich? Just because you can't see ich, doesn't mean its not there. It is free swimming and only attaches to a host to feed (this is what you see, and usually only happens in times of stress), therefore, you need to continue...

    Friend at work

I have a friend at work who told me he has been keeping bala sharks and a couple of plecos in a 55 gallon tank for 8 years. (Not sure of the sizes or how many) He said last night he cleaned the tank for the first time in 3 months, vacuuming all the gravel and changing 50% of the water. Within...
