    Amano Shrimp Have Bred- Help!

Thanks for the reply!   Concerning no.5, what is the bare minimum amount of salt you would say these shrimp need to survive? Is it possible to have the biofilter survive small brackish conditions? At what salt point would you need to change to a marine set up? I don't have the money (or space)...

    Amano Shrimp Have Bred- Help!

Sooooo.......   It has been a pretty manic day today.   About 3pm, i was talking on the phone chatting to my mum while looking at my 9gal shrimp/snail tank, when all of a sudden i see these tiny little things swimming about everywhere!! I thought, "WTF are they?!", so i looked really close. My...

Anyone Want To Rant? About Anything? I Do.

    1. I hate small talk. I know what the weather is like, your job is boring so don't even bother telling me and certainly don't ask me what mine is as trust me its not anymore interesting than yours. Why are you even talking when you don't even care less about what i say? Enough with the...

This Week's "off Topic" Topic (21/05/12)

Hmm...About 90% of the food i eat is home cooked and about 95% of that is cooked by me. My guy does cook from time to time (and i do really appreciate it as its nice to get a break from cooking every now & then) but TBH on the whole i am a better cook than he is. Adventerous cook? Very!! When...

    Wildlife Pics

Ok so not so much close encounters of the furry kind but of the wriggly buzzy kind. Just yesterday i went down to a track day with my guy (rally cars- its more his sort of thing) but in the long waits inbetween the laps i wondered off and took lots of wildlife & wildflower pictures. The race...

    Angelfish Open Sores Getting Worse

^ Cool glad to hear that, wish you the best of luck with the fish- although it certainly doesn't look good right now, with the right meds & care you'll be surprised at what fish can recover from :good: . The main thing though, is if worst comes to worst, not to let it die in the tank if you...

Red Bellied Piranha Severe Stress Or Worse?

    1. Yes the fishes symptoms due suggest stress however i believe this is more likely due to wter quality problems than just the move. So; 2. Test the water for ammonia, nitrites & nitrates. Ammonia & nitrites should be 0 at all times, nitrates between 1-40. If your stats are different to this...

    Angelfish Open Sores Getting Worse

    1. Yes medications can stress fish out, however there are many things you can do to improve the fishes comfort (increasing airation, keeping tank v.clean etc) however as long as you do not overdose they will not kill the fish (however if the fish has a life threatening disease, untreated this...

I've been this situation before many years ago. Back then i would have said no to telling the truth, but these days i would say yes. And it was a complicated situation. Here's the story; Many years ago me & my guy used to live on this street in a small Somerset town. Across the street was...

Plec Does Not Eat On The Glass?

Pleco's won't eat every type of algae- its better to identify the type of algae and deal with its root cause than to buy a fish and hope it sorts out the problem. This link is good for ID'ing & sorting out algae problems :) ; http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm How long has the pleco...

    Nightmare Pond Liner Situation :(

Thankyou for all the help everyone. I've had a long think about the situation and have decided to leave the pond as it is. Bent Fish, Please Help Me.

Most probably Fish TB or Neon Tetra Disease (both diseases can cause spinal curvature by destroying the fishes tissues in places). I would personally put the fish down. I haven't heard of constipation causing spinal curvature in fish before.

    Snails Dead

Yep sand is not a problem for snails :good: . What is far more likely is that they're starving to death- this is the way a lot of aquarium snails go (particularly apple snails). They don't compete with fish for food well and if there isn't another source of food in the tank (edible algae...

    Goldfish Not Well Please Help

The reason why they are unwell is probably due to the cycling conditions in the tank. You should test the tank for ammonia, nitrites & nitrates daily and do small/medium sized partial water changes with dechlorinator whenever you see any trace of ammonia or nitrites in the aquarium. Only by...

    Koi Problem

    Neww

Hi and welcome to the forum :) . You don't need fish to cycle a tank and in fact cycling a tank with fish has a lot of drawbacks in comparison to fishless cycling. 6 goldfish will produce a lot of waste and is too many to add to a new tank of that size at once- your main problem now is...

My New Pond Diary May 2011

 Cool thanks :good: ! In the end i picked up 25 goldfish today as half of them are very small (like 2-3inches big). The problem i came across when catching the fish is that there's a lot of black ones in the pond measuring 2-6inches long as most goldfish are born black (particularly...
