i would advice that you fit it higher than your waterline as it looks annoying if it's slightly lower, i made that mistake. its annoying as the bottom is under 5-6" of gravel its a shame there has to be joins though

managed to get 12 cardinal tetras today so that should brighten the tank up a bit, they are tiny at the min but i would of thought they will soon grow, my mrs thinks i'm obsessed with the aquarium haha

i have just realised my lemon tetras are actually xray tetras lol anyway i have increased their numbers up to 12. so what does everybody think of the set up so far? any ideas greatfully excepted :)

just looking at the pics again and you really do have to look hard to see the fish, it really does need some fish that stand out

i really like the galaxy rasbora, that looks a lovely fish but i can't say that i have seen any in the shops

what are rasboras? i will probably know what they are when i see them lol

They look like a nice fish, they are just a very similar colour to what i have. just thought i would say that vasoline is petrolium based so it will rot rubber eventually, that will be why they tell you not to use it

downtown at grantham do some good deals in fishtanks, i got my juwel rio 300 inc cabinet for £489 ans they do interest free credit. i think they buy in bulk to keep the price down,

Thanks for that, i have kept fish before and have made mistakes so i really want to get everything right this time around. I know cycling the tank is very important and i will try to do it the best i can. As for stocking i'm really open to hearing what people with more experience than me think...
