Anyone else watch it?

The one in my local area mistaken a senegal bichir as a weatherloach and it was in its own tank eating one of the ottos! i told someone and they were determined that is was a weatherloach and just walked off, it was awful @ other posts, yes i understand that some pets at homes are outstanding...

Just been announced on Watchdog on the BBC that the next episode they'll be investigating Pets at Home. being a pets at home "hater" for a while, i'm thrilled that finally someone has decided enough is enough!!

Some bettas enjoy moving around ping pong balls on the surface of the water, haven't tried this with mine yet though!

Two bettas like a bit ham of now and then, but only a rare treat.

You need to condition them for atleast 2 weeks before you think of breeding them If there's any other fish in the tank they're unlikely to breed. Breeding bettas takes a lot of time and effort, you can't just chuck a male and female together and expect to have hundreds of fry in no time. : -)

Yeah haha! I might remove her, give it a few days and try him with a new female. I can't see any breeding bars on her seeing as she's quite light. Shame though, he's made a perfect bubblenest :sad: , hopefully he'll maintain it for another couple of days!

I've been conditioning my male and female for 2 weeks now and yesterday night I put her in the males 10 gallon tank with pop bottle cut in half. :blush: He has made a huge bubblenest in his polystyrene cup and is showing off to her, but she seems to be uninterested? Will she eventually become...

Nope it isn't finrot, just his colour which makes him more unusual. But yeah, there's nothing that top quality water can't fix! :hyper:

Popped up P@H an hour ago and seen this guy. Living in the UK you only get the standard red or blue VT, so i was quite surprised! He's so pretty when he flares up, never seen nothing like him. He also needs a name! :drool:

It must get pretty annoying having to drag those heavy fins around as well :lol:

yep, that's a bubblenest! :lol: that's a sign that they're happy. they sometimes can look stunning when they build them really high!

Too right! My juvine male was such an escape artist! He jumped out of his temp breeder trap which was 3 inches out of the water a few times. Just be careful :good: He's stunning! I've been tempted by finzntails so much haha.

To go with my breeding program I have 7 female VTs to choose from for my first attempt. My question is, what should I look for to determine I'm picking the right female to breed? Should I look for the ones that have a big belly of eggs, or the the bossy/shy ones? I know breeding VT's is not...

My P@H had one of those bichirs in with an otto, apparently it was a weather loach :crazy:. poor thing, there was an otto hanging out of this mouth. I told them twice that is was a bichi but they were certain that is was a WL. could of smacked them!

I've already spent 1 and a half years researching in breeding them and I think I'm about 95% ready :crazy: Good thread!

Not the highjack the thread but, how long do you roughly need to leave the female in the breeder trap/jar before you release her with the male? :blush:

I put a peice of cucumber in the tank to get rid of mine, they soon swarm all over it! after half hour I pick it back out the tank and get 40+ at a time!

He didn't move for a whole 30 seconds... if you seen a betta in a 5+ gallon you couldn't keep him still lol.

There was a few around my area about a year ago in a few stores around me. As someones already said, they were the same price as VTs at £4.99 around me too. But I never see them in shops anymore

If it is a dark/brownish colour maybe it's a snakeskin? but i don't know without any pictures.

Really? I think it looks like a young male :blink: It's fins have grown over the past month and it really doesn't look like any of my other VT females.

Last month I bought 5 VT bettas to start my breeding project which I'm very looking forward to. Since I have had the girls this ones tail seems to be growing :blink: so I think I may have another boy, He/she does flare at the other females, but they seem to all flare at eachother. I just wanted...

Well, I guess you'd have to be pretty unlucky if all five of them were the same gender if they were picked out at random. You must surely have a male and a female there :good:

They need a filter, heater, and 3-5 gallons to swim in, they're tropical fish, they're not coldwater.

From what I can see in the video too, it looks like you have a Balloon Molly. And the top dwellers look like some kind of danio, I think you have the leopard variety but I'm only judging by what i can see in the video. Nice tank though. Welcome to the hobby! :lol:
