personally i would up the number of Pygmies instead of adding another shoal to your tank, from experinece with dwarf cories they do best with 10+ Plants are always good, my pygmy's love resting on them

Bigger shrimps such as Amanos /Algae shrimp tend to work well, there quite a bit bigger than Cherries, i added adult cherries with small females and they ripped them to shreads! they actually hunted them as a pack!

if he's in your rio 180 then i'd take him out as theres going to be trouble, Angels, Firemouths, Gouramis and a black moor? really not a good mix with bettas :/ He is lovely though, nice long anal and ventrals

I could never cull any, ever in there only a day old, most breeders cull young meaning most are perfectly healthy fish, any imperfect fish are just sold cheaper to trusted friends where you know they'll be looked after 100%. The thing with Betta spawns there so touch and go, you could cull 50%...

most females will flare, seeing as this 1 won't move from where he knows another male is also makes me think male as he would be defending his patch. A clear shot or even better a video of it flaring at the male would be best, then i can tell you 100% :)

Short finned, Plakat Male, it has longer ventrals and a pointed anal fin, dead give away and its flaring madly at another male ;)
