The temperature is about 76-78F, and we've only had him since June. Wouldn't internal parasites show up earlier, though? He's in a bare-bottom tank with a clay pot and an airstone, and just got a water change yesterday. :(

Okay, I'll think about changing his schedule, but does anyone have suggestions on making him better, first? :-(

His tank is about 2 gallons, and he gets fed: Monday-Friday: 4 Hikari Gold pellets (once a day) Saturday: One shelled, cut up pea Sunday: Fasting day (to prevent constipation) This schedule is fairly new, so He hasn't been on it for very long at all. I didn't feed him today, just in case it is...

Lately, Julius (one of my bettas) has been acting strange. :( He sits around the bottom of his tank most of the time, with his peck fins clamped. He's not nearly as active as he used to be, and for the first week ever, he doesn't have a bubblenest going. :( He's eating normally, and sometimes...

Thank you... It's hard to see whether there are worms protruding or not, since I can only see him when he's on the move.. most of the time he sits in his little pot. :( Hopefully we'll be able to cure it... I just wish we knew exactly what it was... :(

no, nothing's protruding, and it's not enflamed... :( What could I do to treat internal parasites? :unsure:

I just found 2 tiny, thin stringy-looking poops in his tank... it looks like sewing string. one is sort of reddish :*) Do you know what this could be? Or if this is even poop?

*sigh* I'll just continue on with the constipation treatment, since he hasn't deficated since the first time. :( Hopefully he'll get better. He's already looking a bit more active.

I was browsing another betta sickness site, and this is what I found.. It sounds more like what he's doing than constipation. Should I try Bettamax? If so, how much should I give him? "pale, gray or dull; stays at the bottom of the bowl only coming up for air cause:cold, stressed, vitamin...

The only semi-hard part seems to be the little pale ball.. :*) He doesn't seem cured, though. He's still acting the same. :/ Right now he's in a bare tank, no gravel, plants or anything, so it's easy to see the feces. I just did a water change about a 1/2 hour- 1 hour ago, and I've only seen one...

so should I keep treating him for constipation?

I just found a poop at the bottom of the tank.. it looks like a tiny, pale ball with a little brown stem. Does this mean it isn't constipation? If not, do you know what it could be? Thanks. :*)

He's still acting the same.. but his fins have unclamped a bit. :) does anyone know about how long it usually takes for the salt and peas to start working? (we also put a pinch of aquarium salt into his tank) Thanks!

Okay, thanks.. I gave him a couple peas and he had a great time eating 'em! ^_^

We feed him hikari pellets, and occasionally a couple frozen bloodworms. His waste looks normal.. and he does look a little, tiny bit bloated in the front, but it's definitely not dropsy, because his scales aren't "pinecone"ing. He's not looking irritated, and isn't really breathing hard...
