Julius (betta) Needs help!!

The only semi-hard part seems to be the little pale ball.. :*) He doesn't seem cured, though. He's still acting the same. :/ Right now he's in a bare tank, no gravel, plants or anything, so it's easy to see the feces. I just did a water change about a 1/2 hour- 1 hour ago, and I've only seen one excretion (sp.?) so far.

Carry on with the treatment of peas then and the salt baths, what do you think it was.

I was browsing another betta sickness site, and this is what I found.. It sounds more like what he's doing than constipation. Should I try Bettamax? If so, how much should I give him?

"pale, gray or dull;
stays at the bottom of the bowl only coming up for air cause:cold, stressed, vitamin deficiency suggested remedy:BettaMax
suggests:prevent stress; add vitamins; don't overfeed; maintain constant temperature in the 72º - 80ºF."

Being pale is stress, add the vitamin that shouldn't do no harm, not sure on the med though.

Bettamax
Manufacturer: Aquatronics

Contains: 250 mg nitrofurazone, methylene blue, pvp, vitamins, NaCl sulfas, methazine, diazine, and merazine.

Only thing with antibiotics is that sometimes it can cause constipaton, so it's up to you.

*sigh* I'll just continue on with the constipation treatment, since he hasn't deficated since the first time. :( Hopefully he'll get better. He's already looking a bit more active.

I just found 2 tiny, thin stringy-looking poops in his tank... it looks like sewing string. one is sort of reddish :*) Do you know what this could be? Or if this is even poop?

If you said it was just long and stringy it could be a bacteria infection all internal parasites, don't like the sound of the red as that indicates internal parasites, is the anus red and inflamed can you see anything pruruding from the amus.

no, nothing's protruding, and it's not enflamed... :( What could I do to treat internal parasites?

If it is these very hard to cure, get the fish out of the tank, to be honest i've had them, strip tank down, and use a med, your'e lucky we don' have one in the uk, but sometimes even the med can't shift them.

Not writer of the information below.

Camallanus

Symptoms:

When the fish is stationary, deep red worms can be seen protruding from the anal pore. They are only visible when the fish is still because the worms retreat into the intestine at the fish’s slightest movement. Other signs may include an inflamed and enlarged anus. In severe infestations, the fish may become emaciated and spinal curvature may also occur.

Cause:

The parasitic worms Camallanus Cotti and Camallanus lacustris. These small, livebearing parasitic worms attach to the intestinal walls and rectum with pinchers. The worm’s grip is so tight that any attempts to remove it forcibly will rip away tissue from the intestinal wall. The worm’s pinching causes ischemia (reduced blood flow) to that part of the intestine. In time, the tissue to that part of the intestine will die, at which time the worm will migrate to another part of the intestine. This causes perforations throughout the intestine, which allows other pathogens to gain entry. If the fish is not treated, either the parasite or bacterial will kill the fish. Camallanus infestations occur most often in livebearing fish such as Guppies and Mollies, though infection is possible in all fish. Camallanus infestations are contagious. All fish, including those not yet showing visible symptoms, as well as the aquarium, should be treated.

Treatment:

Treat with Internal Parasite Guard, Pipzine, Disco-Worm, Trichlorfon or Fluke-Tabs as well as a medicated food to prevent a bacterial infection.
