I keep it in my tank with no co2 and 1.3 wpg, grows fast enough for my liking, I know it wouldn't grow on the floor of the tank though, but I only want it floating anyway.

I wouldn't say that there were any rules, only guidelines, as every situation is different, and so what works for someone may have the opposite effect on someone else's tank, like your 150 for example. I just go with what I think is best. :)

Amounts of O2 and CO2 are independant of one another. When I used mine the pH didn't vary a measurable amount during the night, turning the CO2 on and off all the time will cause more of a pH fluctuation than what would happen overnight.

Maybe try a break in the lighting - i.e. 6 hrs, off for 2hrs then on for another 6hrs.

Yeah chinchillas are great aren't they!? Mine doesn't go for the power cords (can only be a good thing!) but likes to chew bags and play in coats when hes out, and his pipes and wooden box when hes in his cage. :)
