    Elite Stingray Filters

Excellant filters! Have a 5 for my betta tank - the current is a tad too strong but it's multi-directional (360) so I can fiddle to send it backwards. Also, they come with little carbon/zeolite containers which, if you are careful, can be opened, emptied and re-filled with normal media balls...

Sae, Flying Fox, Cae, False Sae ....what?

Have a look HERE and whatever you do...don't listen to the LFS - a couple tried to sell me false SAE's as C Siamensis, swearing blind that's what they were... Good luck :good:

    Otto

Oto's really aren't suitable for a newly cycled tank as they are very delicate and sensitive to water quality. (I say this from experience - I had and lost Oto's as a beginner... :/ ) They are also algae eaters and so you need to have some algae to help them. Substrate doesn't matter as much...

    Fliter Maintenance Regime

I usually use the flow indicator to tell me when to do some cleaning, when it drops significantly, it's time to do something. Don't bother with the Eheim filter wool - get yourself the cheapo rolls off ebay or at your lfs and cut the holes in them yourself...this will save you a fortune. I...

Have you purchased needle valves from there - are these the 'finger valves' shown in the hydraulics section? All in all seems like a pretty thorough website if you know what you're looking for.

    Cory Pics

Wow!!! Those really are amazing. They must be similar to the 'lyretail' corys Die Grinder was talking about in his earlier post. Very Impressed  Thanks for the vids

Cheers! I know how hard it can be to take pics of these little guys - every time I try and get close to mine with a camera, they skedaddle...

    Siamese Algae Eater?

It's definitely not a SAE, but I'm stumped as to what it is. Thought it was a garra pingi pingi at first as it has the right head shape, but the stripe doesn't look right and the fins have a distinct bronze tinge to them don't they? Weird! :/ Actually, it could be a garra cambodgiensis - have...

    Dogs In Gardens.

We have a small garden and have 2 dogs. One is a real digger (when we were getting an extension done, we once found him in the foundations digging them away... ) and the other will consitently pee on the same plant until its dead. In despair, we had the garden paved and we now only have...

    Cory Food

That explains it then - when I read your first post, it sounded like you only fed them algae wafers lol. Mine don't really touch any algae wafers put in the tank.

    Which Cory's

 ignore me mate - I was under the impression that both harlies and rams needed to be at higher temps than that, but obviously not. My corys prefer the cooler end of the spectrum, about 23C so I run my tank at 24C to keep the rest of the fish happy! Best of luck in choosing!

    Which Cory's

So what temp are you running your tank at, as the harlies and rams would prob be at a higher temp? That may affect your choice of corys, though offhand I couldn't tell you which!

    Cory Food

I believe that Corys are omnivores and need a balanced and varied diet, feeding this every day would not provide them with all the nutrition they need. Oh and in response to the earlier post about what catfish pellets I use - King British

    Cory Food

They will scavange, but you shouldn't just rely on this to feed them. They need a balanced diet and will readily eat bloodworm - I also feed catfish pellets as these sink to the bottom and I have also seen them eat the sinking food I put in for the tetra's.

    My Pump Won't Prime

Hi, I have the same model and have the same problem every time I disconnect the pipes to clean it out. Have found the same as you - fill the pump itself with water before trying to prime it again.

    Loaches And Malaysian Trumpet Snails

I think the shells of the MTS are too hard for zebra's - even puffers won't have these I hear. When I got my zebra's, I had MTS, ramshorn and pest snails in my tank. I still have the MTS and some ramshorns, but no sign of the pests. I think you'll be fine! :good:

    Cory Cleaning Plec

Are you sure it's a cory and not just a small Chinese Algae Eater? If it is, it could be sucking the (protective) slime off your plec, which is not good at all!

    Bent Neon Tetra

Could be neon tetra disease - I had one that did exactly the same and it got quite poorly in the end. I ended up putting it out of it's misery... Alternatively, if the fish is thin and belly is sunken, I've heard that the bent spine could be a symptom of fish TB. I've found THIS site quite...

How Much Do You Count Them In Your Bioload

Not much experience myself, but if they poop I'd say they contribute to the bioload. Just cos they're so called 'bottom feeders' doesn't make them the clean up crew as they do need a varied diet themselves and they shouldn't just be left to feed off everyone else's leavings. What I think I'm...

Disposable Welding Co2 Cylinders And Regulators

Ok, been reading through this and other threads, but still a little confused about the whole process... I have a cheapo two guage industrial regulator, a reactor, I'm waiting on an auction to near it's end for the fire extinguisher  and I know if I want to fine tune my delivery of CO2...

    Fire Extinguishers

Hi, I'm looking to get a CO2 fire extinguisher off ebay - is there anything in particular I should be looking for ie what's the difference between the black bottles and the red ones? Are there different fittings etc? Cheers!
