I have just read this topic and studied the chart and pictures, and after much debating I think I may have a Siamese Algae Eater - well, two of them actually.
I have attached a picture here - perhaps someone else could offer their opinions?
Many thanks!

It's definitely not a SAE, but I'm stumped as to what it is. Thought it was a garra pingi pingi at first as it has the right head shape, but the stripe doesn't look right and the fins have a distinct bronze tinge to them don't they?

Weird! :/

Actually, it could be a garra cambodgiensis - have a look here and enlarge the picture

Id say its a gudgeon, with slightly different colours. Maybe a variaty from a different country, rather that the british one below(Gobio gobio).

I would say its a Garra species, it isnt a SAE and it has a different mouth to my False SAE's and there are no Gobio species with any similar markings.

I would agree with kilultagh and go with Garra Cambodgiensis (syn- Garra Taeniatops).

It's definitely not a CAE and I will put my money on a Garra - as I've already said in your other thread I strongly suspect it is a Garra Bicornuta.

It's not a Garra Cambodgiensis either - the head shape is entirely different - actually not only that. It's no where close the same body either.

Thanks so very much for all your replies and suggestions, guys. I have read them all and studied the pictures.
Practical Fishkeeping Magazine have suggested it could be a garra taeniata.
I never thought it could be a gudgeon but after seeing the picture posted here by threefingers, that opens up a new line of enquiry for me!
Thanks again everyone - much appreciated.
