    Drop Checker

Cheers. Yes it is the same one - got 2 diffusers and a drop checker for 2p, but it cost £9.98 for postage including insurance. Really fast delivery too, but not so good on the packaging - mine was a bit trampled but they weren't broken. Thanks for the clarification!

How Can I Get Rid Of Duck Weed?

Well for this method to work you'd need a nuclear bomb to start with... Seriously though, I haven't been able to get rid of mine - I keep it under control by fishing it out regular but it's still there...

    Drop Checker

I'm glad you linked to that very informative post. I just bought a cheapy drop checker off ebay (for 1p, but was posted from Hong Kong) and the instructions say to put 5 drops of the supplied reagent (in an API test tube  ) and just add tank water. No mention of the reference...

    Nice Rocks In The Uk

Ok, here's a stupid question for you, but it's been bugging me for a while  My oh is constantl drumming into me (usually when I'm struggling to parallel park) that men have excellant spatial awareness whereas women...well...don't  How do you order rocks (or wood for that...

Did Someone Send Me Some Plants?

Most people haven't realised the impact of Royal Mail's change in pricing policy and the introduction of large letters, packets etc. Recently, when I've asked for SAE's for plants a lot of people have sent me A5 jiffy bags with one or two 1st class stamps on them which just isn't enough since...

    How To Reattach Unidentified Plant

You'll not lose anything by trying as suggested. I had a nymphaea in gravel and it did fine - then i found a baby numphaea bulb when I was gravel vaccing and had two :shifty:

    How To Reattach Unidentified Plant

I don't think it's attached to bogwood - looks like a nymphaea stellata to me which has become detached from it's bulb (the 'bogwood') A clearer picture of the leaf shapes would help. I'm afraid that I don't know if it will come back - you could try though!

    Subtracting A Percentage

I presume you've got a calculator and you want the answer of 5500-2.5% as opposed to how much 2.5% is? Assuming yes to both, easiest way to the answer is to invert the percentage to get your final answer. 100%-2.5% = 97.5% then convert to a decimal (divide by 100) Therefore 5500-2.5% is...

Yup, I watch it too. Think it's really good, if a little slow. I sooo don't like his sister though  Also liking Studio 60 on the Sunset strip :shifty:

    Cheap Fire Extinguishers

I bought mine off www.thewelderswarehouse.com although the exact model I bought is no longer available. Mine was a "lightweight" two gauge regulator at £19 inc VAT, but the others on there are around £29 incl VAT. You could also try www.welduk.com although I've never bought from there...

    Co2 Replens

I would reiterate the earlier comments about contacting a company who service or inspect your works' fire extinguishers as they will know who can refill them. Even if you do not have a FE to be refilled, if you call them you may find that they will refill the aquarists CO2 cylinders. The place...

    Cheap Fire Extinguishers

Mmmm  I had my fire extinguisher refilled at a fire extinguisher specialist in Brum. They had no issues dealing with it because the date stamp into the cylinder was within 10 years of the date it was being refilled (just! it was dated September 1997 and I had it refilled last month!)...

    Corydoras

Good choice Val - betta's have tons of characters themselves. You might get away with a few shrimp in there too - I've got cherry shrimp in with mine and the betta leaves them alone.

    Corydoras

Imo corys shouldn't be considered as 'clean up crew' :) They scavange from the bottom of the tank, but you still have to feed them, so if you have a problem with detrius on the substrate, these will not sort it for you - if anything because of their barbels, they need an extra clean substrate...

    Pressurised Co2

Hiya, Don't know whereabouts you are in the West Midlands, but I visited barber brothers last week to get my 2 KG fire extinguisher refilled (for a whopping £2!!!). They mentioned that a reconditioned 2KG Fire extinguisher would cost about £20 and they sold about 10 canisters to Shirley...

    Chinese Menu Help

I can tell you that you're right with the satay. It's very nutty and oily, but very! tasty (if a little sickening imo). I've recently got into cripsy chicken with Peking sauce which our local chinese makes as a very sweet honey style sauce. Tasty! I've had szechuan once and IIRC it was...

New Tank =) But Lighting Question

I can't fit shop bought reflectors to my tank because they won't fit - the lighting arrangement is a little odd! I bought a roll of mylar from a hydroponics shop for £3.75 for a metre (but they sent me two rolls of more than a metre each :hyper: ) and basically lined the inside of the lighting...

New Tank =) But Lighting Question

You'd be better posting your questions in the plant forum as you're likely to get more replies. Yes, 48W of lighting on an approx. 40 US gallon tank (using the useable volume stated by you) which is just over 1WPG. There are plenty of plants that will grow in this light (have a look at George...

    Blatant Plug For Aqua Essentials

I love Aquaessentials and have ordered many times from them with no problems, in fact my only issue with them is that they run out of stock too easy, but hopefully with this move to larger premises that will resolve itself! BTW I ordered a T6 light tube from them on Thursday and it arrived...

    Plants Stuck In The Post

While I Have My Light Taken Apart.............

You could use mylar sheeting (obtainable from most hydroponics stores) to stick up as a reflective backing - because it's a sheet, you can fit it in the awkward corners a pre-fabricated reflectors can't fit. AFAIK white gloss would be better than tinfoil especially because tinfoil diffuses...
