    Pregnant platy

That sounds so perfect for them- they should be okay. Keep an eye out, if there is no substrate you will see the babies perfectly. Once they both are very active and look skinnier, put them back in the original tank and leave the babies. I don't use a filter for my babies tank, but you can. I am...

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

I know- I am planning on separating them with a tank divider.

    Pregnant Guppy

Hey! I just read over these. Your guppy looks VERY close to giving birth. My platy just gave birth and she had the same bulge on her cloaca area. She just might be ready to give birth. It looks to me the fry have moved down and are ready to be pushed out. If you want to keep them, I suggest...

    Platy black spot

Looks like new markings to me. There are people on her more educated in fish diseases than me but it looks like she is pretty young. She could be developing more markings. She is very pretty!

    Pregnant platy

Yes I do! Be ready to scoop your adults out and hunt for the babies. If you wish to not keep them, just leaving them in will be okay but some might still survive. It is unlikely though. I put mine in a large traveling container with gravel substrate and a plant (I have 11 of them). Once you...

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

Yes they are still going to be in the same tank. I will look into that but I still don't quite understand why I would need to buy a whole other filter and heater for 3.5 gallons of water. I will keep her clean and test the water all the time but I simply cannot afford to do that. Also- I have...

    Pregnant platy?? Help please!

She could be bloated, feed her cooked, peeled peas an see what happens. If she retains buoyancy but is still fat, she might be pregnant.

    Perfect water, planted aquarium, flashing

Torch? I am having a similar problem as the OP, do you mean a flashlight?

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

Alright you guys. I bought everything I need. The film fell and he got in so my sister saved her and put her back in the small tank. What brand of aquarium dividers do you guys recommend?

    Platy pregnant

Oh geez. Yes your platys are pregnant. If you wish to keep them, keep an eye out for a white spot on their butt (cloaca). Once that appears watch over the tank for the next 12-48 hours. If you don't wish to keep the fry, do what the lock man said and let nature take its course
  11. carligraceee

    Pregnant platy

If you start seeing a white or black dot on their butt (cloaca), then that is a perfect sign that they are going to have the babies within the next 24-48 hours, maybe even less (mine was within 12 hours). I left my platy in her tank and when I woke up, immediately removed the adults and started...

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

i was planning on letting them breed but i got her labeled a “baby girl” i don’t think she even has eggs yet and that’s why he was bullying her the way he was.

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

i read on various sights that females can live with males, especially if it got something to split the tank in half. i put her in my community tank and she did well until she started challenging my female mollies and i put her back where she came from.

Decided to get Kevin a friend and need help!!

hey guys! i recently bought a pink orchid male and put him in a ~7g tank! he was happy but i noticed him start to get lonely and decided to get him a friend. i learned males can usually live well with females, especially well if i got a seperater. all i had was a breeding tank so i put my new...

    Betta love with platy fry?

My platy just gave birth and i was wondering if my male beta (in a 5g) would do well with them until they got bigger and i could sell them. i don’t want him to eat the fry, but i thought maybe they would be too big for him to eat. he is pretty aggressive- but doesn’t eat a lot.

    PREGNANT PLATY!!!

she has given birth- not all of them though only around 6. she is still pretty round- they are hiding right now amongst the moss balls so tomorrow i will be heading to the pet store to grab something for them, most likely floating plants/toys. what plants should i look for?

    Aqueon 29 Gallon Tank

You should be fine. I had an Aqueon tank for the longest time. In the future, I would recommend TopFin aquariums. They seem to be the best quality!

    PREGNANT PLATY!!!

She hasnt given birth just yet but she looks the same as last night. Going to happen soon!

    Pregnant fish

so i would take out your older fish and then fish out the babies. literally sit there and search for them and try to make sure you got all of them. make sure the tank is ready before you do this! or you can leave them in there to grow. they don’t need a new tank NOW but obviously will in the future.

    PREGNANT PLATY!!!

i have two moss balls and several planted fern like plants!

    Big fish for 10 Gal

you can keep them together. 3:1 ratio! if you don’t want any chances for babies, all females is best or all males works too!

Best way to vacuum dirt substrate with live plants?

yes but the waste can also create bad water quality. best to test your water and watch fish behavior closely!
  27. carligraceee

Best way to vacuum dirt substrate with live plants?

Aye man! I wanted to help you out because I noticed no one had replied. Here is what I do- I have small and smooth gravel substrate and tons of live plants. I, personally, take out ALL the things in my tank. Deco and plants. I then run the vacuum all along the bottom, stopping it every now...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

i don't know if this is unpopular but i feel it might be: stocking is all based on your abilities. especially with smaller fish. there is no rule you should follow, but honest evaluation of your capabilities!
  29. carligraceee

    Big fish for 10 Gal

I know this. I have had babies, however, frequent water changes and testing will clip that in the butt. I am not breeding them, just enjoying their company and if they end up having kids, I will raise them separately and give them away. My recommendation stands, mollies or platys!
  30. carligraceee

    Big fish for 10 Gal

Also, hardness of water is important but where I live, fish have been bred in this water and nothing bad has ever happened to me when my hardness didn't reach the requirements for mollies or platys!
  31. carligraceee

    Big fish for 10 Gal

Heyo! All single fish are far too big to keep in a 10g without causing them to have stunted growth and lifespans. If you want larger fish, I recommend anything around 3 inches! I have mollies and platys and they are perfect! Everyone's ideas for stocking are based on how well you can keep your...

Is my platty pregnant or just fat ??‍♀️

alright so i would watch her closely, if she gets fatter and fatter, then she is most likely pregnant. if she stays like this, she might just be a little fat!
  33. carligraceee

Is my platty pregnant or just fat ??‍♀️

I have noticed that Platys tend to run a bit fat. I think that is just the way they are built. However, your platy does have a slight silver sheen on her tummy. Has she been pregnant before? My platy has kept her silver sheen even after her birth, but if she hasn't given birth before, she could...

    Pregnant fish

that’s so pretty! it’ll be great for the babies too, once they are introduced! they will have plenty of places to hide and with the dark, faint light they can hide easily if they get bullied. awesome set up !
  35. carligraceee

    Flashing in my female molly?

And that would cause her to stress out and flash? And she has a bit of silver sheen on her. Same as my platy but my platy has ALWAYS had a silver sheen so I am so confused about her issue lol
  36. carligraceee

    Flashing in my female molly?

Oh gosh of course, this has already happened to me lol. Here we go againnnnn
  37. carligraceee

Is there something wrong with my platy?

It is okay. So you think she might be pregnant? If you look at my Platy post which I think you did, you can see the pics of her too. Are they both pregnant?
  38. carligraceee

    Flashing in my female molly?

She sometimes rubs on the plants too. She might be a little stressed because I had a bullying situation. Sometimes my mollies get a bit aggressive. Could that be it? My female platy does it sometimes as well, just as often so I am wondering if they are both pregnant? Does my molly I showed you...
  39. carligraceee

Is there something wrong with my platy?

Okay, yes she has had babies before but it was several months ago. Can females store sperm too? And she hasn't been bullied too much, I had an attitude problem with one of my mollies but that has been fixed.
