i put some cucumber in my tank for my golden apple snail but all my gupppies are eating it,is it ok for them to eat?

ok so i have a 2ftx1ftx1ft tank that i bought yesterday in a carboot sale for £3 !!!! im thinking of doing it up on the cheap side then selling it, so can any1 tell me the cheapest heater and filters for this size tank? and wer can i get them?
