I had to put Yasmine in with my other girls just so I could make room for Finnigan my male with the missing top fin. I came home and my other girls fins are torn up! I feel so bad :( I took her out right away as soon as I saw it but now I have no where to put her... She is in my 10 gallon community right now but I know she cant stay there.
I will have to get a home for her. Do you guys have suggestions as how to help my females with the torn fins? I feel sooooooooo bad :-( I just want to cry :byebye:

Just add some melafix, sorry for your problems.
 
melafix is bad. id recomend salt and clean water. i know from Bettamomma she said melafix burns..and from your pics of yasmine it looks like a plakat male.
 
Really? A male? OH MY GOSH!!! I need to get HIM out of the community tank! Are we sure hes a male? :blink:

this has to be a male by the ventrals they have the white tips and they look longer than a female's and the viewable lack of a egg spot
 
Can I put him in a cup so I can RUN out and get HIM or is it a HER a tank??
 
Like I feel so stupid. The lfs said it was a female and Im no expert so I believed them.

So now am I going to have babies since he was in with the girls? This is bad. Really bad.
 
Yeah that looks like a boy to me too!

No little white spot on his belly by his ventrals? All the ones on my girls are very clear and viewable without searching, and you would be able to see it easily.
 
Well I went out and got a tank for him. I just cant believe hes a boy... I really thought he was a girl. Stupid fish store. :grr:
So everyone thinks hes a boy?
And just add salt to my girl tank and that will re grow back fins?

Haha, I am not the only one! Hurray!

(Oh, sorry about your girls getting beat up. :sad: )

This is Titan. "She" was the biggest "girl" in my female community tank.
I had had to remove "Her" from my female tank..."she" wouldn't play nice. You'll be happy to know that everyone has healed up nicely and is doing fine.

My Titan could even be the brother of your Yasmine, looks exactly the same. He was even labeled (and priced) as a female at the shop.

Here is a pic of the former Alustriel, now called Titan.
