Had their first bbs today  The mw's weren't such a hit so I had to start the bbs early. It seems they've nearly doubled in size since this morning when they ate them :S The first feeding was a bit if-fy because the bbs were almost as large as the fry,but now, just hours later, the fry are gulping down 5 or 6 bbs a piece.

It is funny watching them try to catch their first BBS. They aren't used to these swirling, fast moving little creatures, but they do know THEY WANT TO EAT THEM, Lol. But once they get their first one, each one after that is easier and easier. Both my spawns are eating BBS now, the younger spawn (by 3 days) just started, so I'm waiting for that growth spurt now, as the other spawn is noticeably larger.

 congrats! It really is exciting

I'm dealing with another episode of velvet :look: I changed the water too quickly and I used water a bit cooler and I guess the fry got a chill. I hate seeing tiny spot on their itty bitty bodies but it's almost gone now

I lost a fry last night. I dunno what his story is,I found him on the bottom looking very thin. I suppose maybe he wasn't eating -_-

Wow, cleared up fast! What did you do?

And I hear you on the little guy thing. I've seen two fry in my tank that are teeny tiny, and very thin. About the size the rest of the spawn was at two weeks. probably won't make it, but if they do, they will probably be all messed up.

How many do u estimate wuv?

Sorry to hear about the fry... :X

I used Maracide. This is only the second time I've used it but both cases cleared up in 2 days. I think I'll go ahead and do the 5 day treatment on them though.

I hate to be a pain, wuv, but do you know what the active ingredient is in that? Is it a copper med?

Sorry,cation :*) I must have missed this.
It says aniline green is the main ingredient, which I'm assuming is something similar to methylene blue but for parasites.

Here's a fry...sheesh,I didn't realize they were already 2 weeks old  That explains their constant hunger. Everything disappears the second it goes into the tank.

Lovely betta ;) the male is BEAUTIFUL I may just have too steal a few :)

Just wanted too say I'm glad you're doing this log b/c it is a little more for me too add to my countless hours of research before my first spawn :D

Thanks ww. He really is amazing and he puts out lovely fry

Here we are, almost three weeks old. 2 losses so far. One was already mentioned and freakishly small. I found the other today under a plant weight :/ Dunno his story, but it's a short one.
Very nice tails coming in,I still can't tell if they're CT or not. Also showing anal and dorsals clearly. Looks as though 50% are dark bodied and 50% are very light.

I counted while they were sleeping a few nights ago and I stopped at 85. That wasn't counting all that were hidden in the plants so it appears to be a large spawn. Well over a hundred.

I noticed today that the majority has moved from bottom level up towards the top which indicates the beginning of their labyrinths developing.

Awesome pics, awesome update. I have one question. :*)

What is that tubing in the back and what is it attached to?

Simplicity at it's finest :p I don't use any source of filtration in my fry tanks until usually the 3 week mark, I'll add a seasoned sponge filter in a few days. The tube that you see is simply their source of aeration. It just blows bubbles into the tank :)
