Okay thanks, I know you mentioned in another post you don’t know a great deal about cichlid but you seem to know a lot about plants, are there any other plants I could try in my cichlid tank?Hornwort tends to grow like mad. I'd just give it some time to grow rather than buy more!
Aaaww, thank you! Much as I appreciate the compliment, I really don't know a great deal about plants either, I'm just enthusiastic about having heavily planted tanks myself, so pick up the odd thing here and there! I buy plants and stick them in my tank hoping for the best, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have hornwort in one of my tanks, and end up throwing away handfuls of the stuff because otherwise it'll take over and block all the lightOkay thanks, I know you mentioned in another post you don’t know a great deal about cichlid but you seem to know a lot about plants, are there any other plants I could try in my cichlid tank?

I've heard that plant-eating fish are less fond of java fern because they don't like the taste and toughness, but I see you have that already.
There are different types of java fern though - so maybe look for other varieties? Broad leaf, narrow leaf, and one I just got has odd shaped leaves - Microsorum pteropusView attachment 161156
So you could get a different look, while hopefully the cichlids stay off of it! Was it one of your threads where @Colin_T recently recommended duckweed? I have a personal loathing for duckweed, but if it does help keep the fish occupied eating that rather than the plants you've put into the tank, then I can see the usefulness! And it's certainly a prolific grower.
What she said.Hornwort tends to grow like mad. I'd just give it some time to grow rather than buy more!
I think this may just be a sign that you have to give in and get a second tank, so you can have all the plants your heart desires!Yes, I’m going to get an outside container and grow some duckweed and hopefully it prevents them from destroying my other plants just hopefully.
The Java fern you have shown a picture of above, I actually have some of that at the back. It looks kinda crinkly lol and the others are more like normal leaves. They seem to leave the Java fern alone.
I think they are going to destroy the Nomaphila however but hey ho haha ide love a nice purple or red plant. I’ve tried ludwigia but they ate it lol

Yeah I’ve been trying to convince my wife to sell the sofa and replace it with a six footer.
So far no success, but I’ll keep trying
Oh man, yep. Have had to thin out the pond several times already, carefully sifting through it to save tadpoles, newts and tiny fish. It'll choke out the pond and make it impossible for the fish to move otherwise!Time to state the obvious. Summer is here. Put some Hornwort outside in a tub and watch it go crazy .
Would it grow with duckweed?Time to state the obvious. Summer is here. Put some Hornwort outside in a tub and watch it go crazy .
Heck yeah. Both will grow like mad in an outdoor tub together. Look at any pond.Would it grow with duckweed?
Should I just remove one piece of hornwort from the main tank? Also how do you propagate hornwort?Heck yeah. Both will grow like mad in an outdoor tub together. Look at any pond.
