clamped fins

Hi, I have a plakat betta that has clamped fins. the water quality is fine. Ammonia and nitrite 0 and nitrate 20. I started using paracleanse but I don't think its working, even maybe making it worse. Should I stop using it to treat the clamped fins? What should I do? Also a stupid question, but will he die on me unexpectedly?
-important to note: he was in a divided 5 gallon with a betta who got dropsy (he died today)

Stress can also cause clamped fins. If his environment doesn't have enough cover or hiding spots for example or if he could see the other betta through the divider.

How often do you do water changes? I would stop the paracleanse since medications can often make things much worse and are hard on the fish. I would start with increasing you water changes to at least 2-3x weekly.

In my opinion 2.5 gallons is also a very small space for a plakat betta and might be contributing to the stress. Mine is alone in a 5 gallon and he still looks a little cramped so I'm going to be upgrading soon.

Hi thanks for the reply, since I’ve just put medication like 30 minutes ago, I just did a water change. I will do the frequent water changes. Also, I agree that 2.5 is small, I was going to upgrade them to a 10 gallon but since one died, this betta gets the 5g all for himself. I’ve linked below a photo of his tank and him. Question: would I just need to keep on doing frequent water changes for him to get better? If so, how long should I be doing them for?
