How to do water changes WITH fry in the tank and refill

@Slaphppy7 R/C airplanes huh ? It was Estes rockets for me. Looking back on it all the fish hobby really wasn't that expensive to me as a youngster. If I really wanted something really bad I would cut pictures of it out of Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine and put it in my Dad's wallet . That didn't work all the time but often enough to make it worth my while. So , @Rocky998 , pull the pathetic look out and put the guilt trip on your folks. You're a budding ichthyologist or fisheries biologist and they should want to advance you in every way they can.

Yes... Make them feel horrible and get what I want 😈😅... Nah I wont do that but sense I do actually want to work in marine biology or with aquatics in general. This is a nice start to that.

Oh, I had the rockets, too...so much fun....gah, the good old days

DIY genius... I wonder if it connects up to the hose and then I could just attach it to the hose for an easy fill!
You can do that yes.

Ive got an intake strainer attached to my hose what ive filled with some filter sponge to slow the water flow down going into the tank.

Ive wanted to do a rocket for a while... But @Back in the fold, you put a fish IN A ROCKET!? I understand a bug but a fish? Whaaaaat???
Sure did. In a way we were rotten little delinquents. This is 5th grade in 1967 and grade school boys have weird minds. The rocket had a clear plastic payload section and we put the fish in a little tiny bottle with a stopper that just fit in there. In those days the rocket kits came with balsa wood nose cones so we had an engineering problem to overcome. How to fly the fish and the water. We really wanted to do a gerbil but fortunately the big rocket kit that would have made that possible was beyond our budget.

Those rockets had to be balanced at the right COG, as well...

BTW, sorry for the thread-jack, @Rocky998

Yeah, sorry about that @Rocky998 . But . . . you sound like a guy that's up for adventure. Yes, @Slaphppy7 balance was all important. Found that out the hard way a few times. Another thing with the payload rockets was the nose cone flying off at apogee ejection because of inertia. We taped it up good so that wouldn't happen. Are you taking notes kid ?

Its ok. But for real.back on topic... I may want to try that plastic bottle idea or just buy a strainer to spray the water into over the tank...
