I'm relatively new to keeping Angels. My marble angel is developing red/orange hues on the top of its head. Is this normal? I will admit that there was a period of time that I slacked on tank maintenance. I was in bereavement. I'm working on correcting the water parameters. The fish is acting normal and healthy, it's colors just have changed a bit.

A number of my angels have developed orange red hues around their heads as they get older, I am pretty sure it is normal, and if it isn't normal the fish don't seem to care, they have had the hue change for almost two years now.

This is completely normal and part of this Angel's coloration.

15 years ago it was almost impossible to find Angelfish with much orange on them but now you can purchase them almost completely orange!

Thanks. I initially thought it might have been ammonia burns from neglecting the tank when I lost a very close loved one. I've had this Angel for a year now. Still can't tell the sex.
