I didn't know where to ask this, sorry if nits not where I supposed to be 😬

My eyes are playing up this morning (stupid covid) can you tell me where I'm working at

please?

It's been tough in all honesty. Although I'm not poorly anymore I've been left with fatigue and weakness which is limiting to day-to-day living. Thankfully I'm very blessed in that I don't work, so I can stop and rest whenever I need to so it's easier to manage. Strangely, my eyes have been affected...I get ocular migraines with visual disturbance that I've never experienced before getting covid so I can only assume its linked

Thanks for asking ❤

Sorry to hear you have covid. When did it start? Hope your road to full recovery goes well.

Thank you, my husband is a teacher so we were bound to get it eventually!

It was a few weeks ago now but it's just this residual nonsense I'm trying to battle

Sadly The pandemic has isolated us and changed our lives...to a degree, living in some fear of maintaining good health. I wish you well and hope this is just a 'bump in the road' for you. Get better soon!

I take a simplistic approach to reading nitrate test results as subtle differences in shades of orange is nearly pointless. so in a nutshell, orange = OKAY, red = BAD. So if when the result is red/bad, you need to step up partial water changes volume and/or frequency as well as looking into Lowering Aquarium Nitrates. And if you're up for it, you might enjoy the deep dive into Filtration and Water Quality. :)

Thank you! I'm doing OK just weary most of the time 😴

I have a heavily planted tank that I'm battling algae in and I'm wondering if it's because there's not enough nitrate...so was just checking (as it's something I very rarely do)

Plants much prefer ammonia over nitrates as their nitrogen source as processing nitrates requires more energy.
Algae is almost always excess nutrients and/or light. You might reduce feeding and/or back off slightly on lighting intensity/duration. They may always be some [normal] algae, but once you achieve balance, there will typically be very little! :)

It's hard to know what advice to listen to as there's so much conflicting opinions. Another forum suggests that excess ferts doesn't cause algae and that its due to lack of c02 and high light...my light is quite high but its only running at 40%...I halved my fert dose and I've noticed my plants suffering so I'm going to dose normally again 🤯 my brain won't compute the science behind it all but it's a challenge I'm eager to take on 💪🏻
