I recently got a beta fish from a local pet store (2 days ago). I noticed nothing abnormal when I first got him, but have recently seen potential signs of pinecone scales on his body, right under his dorsal fin. They are only on one side, and he hasn’t been behaving sickly at all (very active, eager for food). I know that these scales can be signs of serious infection, and don’t want to notice any problem too late. He currently is in a 10 gallon tank, with all ideal water conditions. What should I do?

What are your water params? Is your tank fully cycled? Are there any tank mates?
