Hey,

I've noticed in the last couple of days that 1 of my Molly fish is always haveing it's head at top of the water.

From my research, it could be lack of oxygen? But surely all the fish's would be doing it?

My filter is for 100-200L tank and my tank is only 40L, so don't have an air stone because thought my filter would be enough.

Looks as though the filter outlet is a good way below the water line? Try raising it a little so it's disturbing the surface more as the water comes out, it's this surface disturbance that allows for gas exchange and oxygenates the water.

Also double check the temp on the tank, as water becomes warmer it can hold less oxygen, so fish gulping at the surface always worth checking the temp and increasing the surface disturbance, then see how they're doing :)

Thank you,

I've done it so the top is above the water so it's like a founting, is this better?

Temp is stable at 25c

Yep, hopefully that'll do the trick. If she's still doing it after a few hours, or showing other symptoms, then come back and see if there's something else going on perhaps? Everyone else in the tank okay?

On last photo you can just about make out his tail under log

I can't see anything wrong with him and all the other fish are doing fine :/

LOL sorry, the gold dust molly I have is a female, so yours automatically became 'she' in my head, I didn't even look whether it was male or female, sorry!

Hard to say what's going on without knowing more about the tank, how long has it been set up now? You had guppies before, didn't you?

If you can copy paste and fill out this template, hopefully we can figure out what's going on with him;

Sorry for slow reply, had an appointment to attend.

When I open the lid, he'll come up for food and swim around awhile.

Do a 75% water change, as soon as possible.
You have an ammonia reading and your nitrites are sky high, and that's literally poison to fish. After the water change do another test, and if ammonia or nitrites are above 0, do another water change right away. Make sure to use water conditioner and that the replacement water is the same temperature as the tank water.

In the long term, your tank is far too small for mollies, let alone with the other fish you already have in there too. You have to resist the temptation to stuff too many fish into too small a box, or water builds up and poisons them, leading to nasty deaths.

I don't understand why it's keep getting so high, I've done so many water changes in the last few weeks.

Anyone here use Sachem Prime and Seachem Stability? Is they a better adviced water treatment out there?

Am I feeding them too often? I feed them once per day.

Fish shop said 3 Molly's would be okay.
