I have put my newest Eheim Jager 50w in my 30L betta tank, about 10 minutes later it was still on and on. I have left it on 26 just like it arrived to me like.
Then I saw these wave like moving things coming out of its glass and whitish, milk-ish splotches/spots on it where the metal thingy spirals that heats up. These milky spots are also on tank wall.

It is setted up like this:

Anything wrong with that thing? It was expensive...

I'm not sure. I dont have this heater. Hopefully someone can help!

I have Eheim heaters and have never seen a splotch. I can't see anything in the photos so I'm not sure what you mean.

The wave like things - do you mean the hot water rising away from the heater?

Be guided by the thermometer. Even the best heaters are not accurately calibrated. Just because it's set at 26 does not mean it will heat the water to 26 deg. Mine is currently set to a tiny bit less than 24 and the water is 26 deg.

Not sure about the "whitish" issue, not really sure I can see it anyway! But you should wash the heater off under plain tap water before using, in case there is any residue of this or that. Place it in the tank for 20-30 minutes without plugging it in. Then plug it in and if the tank water is at the desired temperature already, turn the adjuster down until the pilot light goes off (if it is on), or up until it just comes on if it is off. Keep monitoring it for the next few hours, you may have to re-set. I find on my Jager the setting does not correspond to the temperature exactly; mine is set at 20C and the water heats to 25C which is where I want it.

After you said, it could be hot water rising. My Jager was still on and on and temperature looks lik is 26.5-27 ish so it looks like its overheating...

Splotch; is below heaters suckers on the black thing:

I see it but I'm not sure what it is

I did put the heater in for longer without pugging it in.. I'll let the water cool overnight and then I'll plug in and set the heater to 20 C and then see. When the heater is on and heating I have to adjust temperature on the heater to lower until the light is off?

If it's inside the glass I wouldn't worry.

The weather hasn't gone that cold so the temp won't get too cold if you leave the heater off overnight. Set it to 23 when you get up and plug it in and see what that does after a couple of hours. If it's not warm enough turn it to 24. If that's still not warm enough after a couple of hours, turn it to 25.

I find that if you turn the heater down till the light clicks off you have to turn to down quite a way. Then if you turn it up slowly till it clicks back on, you have to turn it quite a long way again.

First, always have the tank water at the intended temperature before adding the heater, any heater. This saves considerable wear and tear on the heater, as it is easier for the heater to maintain the temperature than it is to heat cold water up to the temperature (which it may not be able to do anyway, they have limits). Then you adjust the temp control until the pilot light goes off if it is on or comes on if it is off. If the pilot light is off initially, you have no idea where the heater may be set (as I said, the temp setting is often not bang on, I don't think I've ever had any heater that was except the internal heating unit on my Eheim Pro II, now that was some heater).

It it inside the glass..
Temperature in my tanks gets to 24 C during night usually below it so it is cold for my betta. I'll do what you said tommorow, as I will have more time than today, and see. Thank you.

I can't think how to word it, mainly because I've had a beer, but could it not be like some sort of condensation-like-water-residue'y-weirdness stuff, underneath the glass inside the heater? My heater in my 165L community tank has the same thing and prevents me from seeing exactly the temperature it's set at (I have a themometer that I go off) Yeah, forgive me for not knowing at all how to word that utter nonsense that I've just written. I hope it's somewhat understandable.. I don't think it would be leaking anything and like @essjay says, I'm sure the waves you can see is the heat rising away, like when a road is really hot in the summer and it looks like a glitch in a computer game

Hope I've helped, probably just further confused you though
