Dwarf gourami disease DGD what can you do!!!

I am not a noob just need to throw that out. Please don't tell me to check my water parameters or the other fish are beating them up water parameters are perfect and no other fish really picks on him other than normal tank mate behavior.

I have been in the hobby for over four decades with that said I I've never personally experienced dwarf gourami disease DGD. I purchased this pair of powder blue dwarf gouramis almost 5 months ago. One of them developed nicely with growth I believe it's a female the other based on dorsal fin is definitely a male point as hell has never really increased in size and was never a strong swimmer. We named it camo because he liked to hide in secure tight places all the time. At times he looks more gray then powder blue but other times he has a nice blue tint. This is the third time he got sucked on the intake valve of one of my filters.

There's really nothing that I can find on the internet or any of my books to help him thrive better. What is the life expectancy of with this disease. Right now I'm thinking about setting up a 5 or 10 gallon tank just for him because if he gets sucked into the intake valve again we may not be able to save him three strikes you're out and he already had three strikes.

I know you can't see this in the picture but he is half the size of the blue one.

Members on here need to know your actual numbers of your parameters in order to help you.

Are you sure the orange gourami is a dwarf gourami and not a honey gourami?

The gourami Iridovirus causes the fish to develop sores on its body, stop feeding or reduces its food intake, lose weight quickly and die within a week or two of these symptoms. Your fish don't show these symptoms and I would say the problem is aggression and not the Iridovirus.

You probably have 2 male fish and the bigger one is bullying the smaller one. This will continue until the smaller fish leaves the bigger fish's territory or is killed.

If you have a spare tank, I would move the orange fish into it and feed it 3-5 times a day for at least a month to help it build up some strength. Do daily water changes while you are feeding more often to keep the water clean.

Lol are you brain-dead. This has nothing to do with my water parameters if you read. This is definitely DGD. What I'm asking what is the life expectancy when a fish has this disease and is there anything I can do to help him thrive a little better until he dies of this disease. Really you're lacking reading comprehension I stated my water parameters are perfect my main tank that this guy has been in for the last 5 months has no deaths and the other blue guami I have is doing perfect. I stated he never grew he still the same size that he was 5 months ago while the other guamese in the tank or all thriving. I know about 25% of all dwarf gouramis have this disease but I've never experienced in first person. I want to make his life comfortable as possible before he dies. Wow why do you need my water parameters to help me with that.WTF and SMH.

He's not orange he's powder blue and yes lol I bought them together as a pair male and female. He is a male powder blue dwarf gourami that I had for 5 months that is suffering from DGD. I just want to know what is the life expectancy because I cannot find it anywhere on the internet and is there anything I can do to help him thrive a little better so he doesn't suffer until he dies.

Wow you people are crazy. I know why I haven't been on this website in a while. It's a powder blue gourami he has not grown since day one very poor appetite no other fish pick on him for the last 5 months. He's just getting weaker and weaker does not eat and is a poor swimmer who gets sucked up into the intake valve. I don't understand why you people make up stories. Lol please I would like to see that information that dwarf gouramis with his disease dies within a few weeks. Please provide a link.

You guys are not helping at all. I wrote a specific thing on life expectancy with DGD and is there anything I can do to help the fish not suffer as much. I get you need my water parameters and are you sure it's a powder dwarf blue gourami it looks Orange WTF SMH. Yes I'm sure it's a powder blue dwarf gourami it is a male he has not grown in 5 months he lost his color he doesn't eat and he's a poor swimmer that keeps on getting sucked into my intake valve. I've stated this information three times now. and the only thing I get is check your water parameters and are you sure it's a powder blue gourami WTF. Yes I am sure lol.

I did not know that grouramis get that disease I have had 3 and none of them have had any problems. I have a powder blue they are amazing.

They probably got that disease from poor water quality. That is why everyone is asking what your parameters are!!!

Then read the entire threat again and you will see. It is not my water parameter it is not of the fish being aggressive and beating them up. It is a male dwarf powder blue gourami for sure. I've had them for 5 months he lost his color he has a very poor appetite he is a poor swimmer he has DGD what I'm asking is specifically about the disease. Life life expectancy and is there anything I can do to make his life a little better until he dies because you cannot cure this disease. Now you know why I'm being rude because people don't listen they just want to talk.SMH

I have 26 other fish in the tank with no deaths both fish are thriving including 12 species of plants. My water quality and parameters are perfect. This is why I stated that I'm not a noob and it is not water quality issues or aggressive of other fish. This male powder blue gourami has not grown in 5 months since I got him. SMH

Some fish are hardy and can survive in poor water quality but gourmis can not and that is why he has the disease. For example my platys were in a tank that had an ammonia spike that was bad and none of my fish died.

SMH yes DGD stands for dwarf gourami disease only dwarf gouramis and I believe 3 spottedgouramis get this disease.

Another instance when I got ick all of my fish survived except one gourami.
