Fish room on a carpeted floor. That's brave
Carpet is 7 years old and cheap builders carpet. We talked about that and decided to go with it. I hate ceramic tile in bedrooms and I have to think of selling later on. No one would want ceramic in there. Cheaper just to replace carpet later.

OK. Big change on Betta room. My husband seems to agree with @seangee that the carpet needs to go. So I have opted to go with painted concrete flooring for now. It will have some texture added to it to prevent slipping. Then, if we ever decide to sell or do away with the betta room, we can just carpet over the concrete. I have bought all of my artwork for the room. Tomorrow I begin ripping out the carpet and sanding the concrete where the builders left overspray on the floor. I’m sure it will be a fun day. Pics of progress to come.

Today we ripped up the carpet and sanded floor. Now preparing floor for paint.

Here’s the floor as it’s drying. I used garage floor paint. I would use a little less speckles if doing it again but it’s OK for first time. Hubbie wants to do his garage so my fish room was the guinea pig. I also added a sandwich bag size of sand to prevents slips.

you have a very nice "hubby. " Floor looks great and is now waterproof
Now you have no worries of python incidents or tanks overflowing.

I did have my 10 gallon on a stand in a carpetted room and had a few minor water incidents but nothing major luckily. Since that tank leaked, the room is now tank free. I think I'll just keep the 3 tanks that are still running for now. Two are on a vinyl tile covered concrete floor in basement. The only one in a carpeted room is the 5 gallon Beta tank which is easy enough to maintain.

Thanks, guys. I was really hesitant to take the carpet out of a bedroom but this is more practical. I made me a basement at street level. lol! More to come as budget allows. Tapped for now. Oh, I did get the sink for the washroom too!

I am still trying to convince the wife to let me fill a couple more tanks but so far no luck. :( Having 3 already I guess I can understand her view point and my hobbies do tend to take over the house. I have at least 5 tanks sitting empty in the basement. I think that is where I will try next. All my tanks are sitting on carpeting and so far no major accidents and just small spills over the years.;)

I always seem to make a mess. My tanks are mostly on laminate flooring at the moment and my husband is always worried about the floor getting wet. I think the betta room will ease his mind a bit plus give me room for a lot more small tanks. My purpose now is to save a few bettas from dying in those sad plastic cups. Tell your wife the tanks are your other “women”. I’ve always said that as long as the project cars keep my husband home and faithful, I don’t mind having another lady living in the garage. Been married almost 43 years. :)

I was at Petco yesterday and checked out their Betta in a cup collection. They had a "baby blue boy" for 2.99. small dark blue male. I was tempted to buy him :wub:but don't have a tank set up for him. He looked so sad, wish they would get along with other fish I would put him in my tetra tank. He was about the size of a neon tetra.

Awww. Poor baby. You can set up a tank today and go back and get him. :hey:

It’s coming along nicely. At a stopping point now until hubby can build my wall shelf. He promises within a couple of weeks. I guess I have to let him work on his car since he helped me all weekend.
