The amazon puffers have beaks specifically for eating insects and crustaceans. So you would end up with a tank of the puffers without the snails and shrimp.

They are incredibly sharp beaks. Plus, your puffers wouldn't wait to eat the other fish until they have reached adult size. They will just eat them. Puffers are best in species only tanks, unless the other inhabitant are specifically there for food (like snails and shrimp).
South American Puffers can be mixed with other fish reasonably well but it has to be a well considered community. Also think more 5 inches for SAPs not 3.
Other fish to put with assassin snails and the shrimp, loads of options. Most South American Cichlids of a medium to small size would work - what size tank are you thinking for this set up?

Will group of 3 Dwarf Puffers attack bamboo shrimp and assassin snails since dwarf puffers are extremely small barely reaching an inch while assassins and bamboos grow to 3 inches i can also try to teach the puffers to prefer flakes over live food like i taught my arowana! i did it by feeding the koi vegetable pellets and so the arowana became interested and took a bite after a few weeks the arowana eventually learned to love vegetable pellets maybe i can do the same to puffers but instead of pellets i will use flakes and instead of kois i can use mollies.

I would just choose between puffers and crustaceans/snails.
There used to be a very experienced keeper on the forum called Neale Monks who kept SAPs and Red Eyed Red Tailed Puffers together in a 40 gallon. He kept them I think with Danios. I think he also had some Botia Loaches with them and maybe a Syno catfish of some kind?

Goggy, puffers will use their teeth to break through shells, but they are very clever fish. My female dwarf puffer ate my nerite snail which I thought was too big for them to eat. Larger snails are just as easily a target as most puffers can figure out how to eat the exposed foot or even pull it out of the shell all together. They are also rather mean fish and shouldn't be mixed with others. However, a well planted ten gallon species tank with a carefully chosen group of dwarf puffers works out very well in most cases.
Puffers should not eat flake food. Live foods help keep their beaks in check and frozen foods provide the nutrients that snails can't. Gut-loaded live foods are best as they do not intend to eat vegetable matter.

i didnt think there beaks were that strong so i am thinking of a Fluval Edge 12 gallon tank for a family of 5 dwarf puffers or 1 amazon puffer i will feed it frozen bloodwormsattibones said:

if i cant get a nano community tank i would just like to put umm... 1-3 red tailed puffers and 3 black corys i want the corys cause i heard in puffer tanks they are good scavengers since puffers are extremely messy

Well... no to be honest. Those are both of the fluval edge, one is 25 liter and one is 46 liters.... neither of them are close to the size I mentioned.
Why is the 40 gallon we talked about earlier not an option any more?
