Well i picked up a stand for my tank today so im all ready to add water now

Ive got all my treatments im just waiting for my API test kits and a heater to come through the post which i have ordered

While im cycling i will check how stable i can keep the PH before i decide what fish to add

I will keep the pictures coming along the way

I wouldn't try to do anything with the pH directly, just let it be what it be and wait until the end of the cycle. pH will vary with the addition of new tapwater anyway so you'll never keep it at one measurement.

Before you get fish, test your water at petsmart or another pet store that sells fish.

You can just test your water with the API test kit your getting, no need to goto the pet store to test your water.

All cleared up now and the heaters added

my new test kit has come too

Here are the readings

- looking quite good - the filter had been in use before but i wasnt sure as to what state the bacteria would be in but from the looks of things its ok

well i was quite pleasantly surprised that the PH came out that low i was expecting a lot higher,

I would like a nice shoal of tetras like some cardinals, a group of corries and if possible some Endlers but its looking like i may have to mail order them

After testing tonight my ph was stable at 6.8

ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 5

Looks like the filter was still in good shape after being out of action for a week

Im keeping an eye on the levels but will probably look at adding some fish on wednesday - just a few danios first so i can still keep an eye on the filter in case of ammonia spikes
