Supraman-I should have known, she was far too young,I should have separated her until she was a little older, I just didn't think.

I have just done the swap. All the fry are in the main tank.  As predicted the platies went into a frenzy chasing the fry, the fry are way too big to fit in their mouths. I still held my breath though. I have switched the lights off to help everyone calm down.

Even though i've been doing this for over a year now, it's still sometimes hard to judge and depends on the female.
The cobra female is a lot more square than the half black. The half black is bigger though and had all the fish hanging around her so I have put them both in the 30L tank. The filter in there is the Fluval U2 so it's upto 100L and I do daily changes in that tank.

Even though the fry I have at the moment weren't planned, I still don't want them hurt after raising them. I just hope i've made the right decision.

I've got two young platy females quarantining in a 28L tank for 2 weeks.  I thought it would be fine for the short term but you guys are getting me worried now.

Shutting off the lights will definitely help calm them down, I have to do that with my cichlids as a " time out " sort of deal
Yeah it was the platies they just went crazy. They are all calm now.  I don't know why they got all excited the fry are too big for them.

They should be ok, it's short term. My 2 females are happily eating the fry food off the wood and swimming about. They are probably just happy to be left alone and get a break from the boys.

The fry survived the night! I hoped they did, they are massive lol. The cobra female is very square and the half black is bigger. I am predicting fry by the end of the week if not sooner.

The females still haven't dropped yet. I rearranged my main tank. For those of you who don't know, I went back and got that siamese fighter I mentioned in a previous post. His colour was just so unusual so I will be putting the females back into the main tank.

I took the large mopani out of the small tank and stood it up behind the main piece in this tank. All the wood is strategically placed to create hiding places. I brought the vallis forward to either side too.

The fry tank now looks like this. It will be getting an overhaul on friday.

I still haven't been to Dunelm to lookk for some mopani wood, but I'll try to get there this week if I can get away from puppy duties! lol

New set-up looking good!
Will now go and have another look at your new fighter as I've seen so many lately I can hardly remember whose is whose! lol

Hehe I went to Dunelm Mill today! They mostly had tiny pieces but I picked up this beauty for £1.99:

Weighs about 900g so would be worth about £6 in my LFS I guess

Got any pictures of the new betta?

Lol mamashack - get down there before they are all gone!

Daize-That's impressive! That's like my main piece it would have well cost me more! Great find! Love how it looks like a volcano!

That's a great piece, Daize! Is that tape measure saying it's about 9" wide?
I was going to say I'll try and get there tomorrow if I can, but I've just checked and it's actually open til 8 tonight.
When my son gets back from walking Freddy I'll pop over and see what they have!

Yes go tonight! Then tell us about the awesome piece or pieces you get!

They will be having a stock take and think wait a minute we've not sold any of this wood in so many years now suddenly, there's a mopani wood boom all around the country lol.
It's the deal of the century so we might as well take advantage before they catch on and increase the price!

Yup Mama it's 9.5" wide and 7" tall and even has a hollow hidey hole in the middle.  Really pleased with it, think I will be checking back every few weeks for new stock!

But hey I spent about £35 on household goods while I was there too so their gain!

Love the betta's fins... has he got a name yet?  What about 'Toffee'!
