Breeding My Discus

You will get there, and once you've done it, new spawns will be a piece of cake!

Thank you. I really hope I will have it cracked very soon. Maybe even this bunch. News is that the wrigglers are looking strong. I will fly home tonight, and I am guessing that they should go free swimming Thursday or Friday.

They don't look like little omelets this time. Hope your fishy parents agree!

My newly crawling/standing up baby is nothing to those wrigglies. Round 'em up, you sissy Discus. Seriously. They are contained in a tank.

Edit: I may have meant : Those wrigglies are nothing to my crazy baby, but I'm too exhausted from chasing the chunker everywhere today.

Got back home, but the fry weren't good. So I decided to go again, and have set-up the second tank and put the pair of blues in that keep trying in the main tank. So double the chance now. Currently the water feed is going through a peat filter to lower the pH and slightly soften the water. I am getting good egg fertilization with this water, but the fry are really struggling. So my plan is to wait until the eggs have been laid and then do a gradual switch to pure RO water, and hopefully this will really help the fry develop. I know that long term they can't stay in pure RO water as it is deficient of the minerals the fish need, but for a couple of weeks while the fry grow I am sure will be OK. I can then switch back to tap water. Will give it a go and see.

"And if you wanna be the best, then you gotta beat the rest oooooh........." Makes me want to break out the trumpet........ if I had one! In fact I could be a record breaker, for the longest time spent trying to do something without success!!!!!
