So my best friend's landlord has an extremely overstocked 29 gal full of these magnificent jumbo guppies, I was skeptical at first when she spoke of "giant guppies"... but my curiosity soon was replaced with amazement... I'm curious- does anyone know anything about them? Her landlord gave me two pregnant females(one of which that just dropped about 70 fry this morning) and the other still in the orange gravid stage. She also gave me 3 males... that are just gorgeous. They're about 5 times bigger than a normal male guppy also...

I just wanted to know some more info so I could better care for them! All 5 of them are in a fry tank right now, until the other female drops and they all regain their strength from the stress of transporting from nasty cloudy water to pristinely clear/clean water!

I will upload a video soon!!!!!!!!!!
:good:

Not a usual contributor to this section but I have seen one very very large guppy and just could not believe it this one was probably

the ones i saw were females also, the males were much smaller

I've seen some females hillting 70-75mm which is a monster.

So they do have the potential get quite large, feeding them while small is the key to getting these sorts of sizes.
The ones I've seen though come in from breeders in the far east, these i guess are old brood stock they sell off.

No... the females are about.... [____________________________________] that long, maybe a little bigger... Not including its fins.
The males are about [_____________________________] That long with out fins... They're even longer with fins! I've done some research and some have said that it was a strain of guppy... But I'm still not sure.

I'm not at home right now, I will post a video later on this evening!

Here's one of my females right next to a full grown orange platy!

If you want jumbo guppies do the same as your best friend's landlord has done. it may be overstocked and look like nasty cloudy water / it’s done them the world of good guppy’s don’t grow that big unless there well looked after.
A CLEAN TANK IS NOT ALWAYS A HAELTHY TANK

They just look like fully grown normal guppies to me. My lfs often gets guppies that people have had for a while brought back at that size.

I suppose so. They're seriously like 5 times bigger than the average guppy, we will see how their fry grow... or how fast their fry grow. I'm not sure how old the adult guppies are, so they may just possibly be well taken care of! They are wonderful to watch though [ :

They do just look like they are well cared for fully grown adults they get alot bigger than people think if kept and feed properly.

my aunty ones have a way to overstocked tank full of guppies and the females we're just as huge if not bigger than yours. she never cleaned it or did a water change just added water when needed. so maybe they like to have an overstocked tank.

my lfs just had someone bring in a tank full of platys that were as big as rainbow fish and about an inch thick they looked to be on steroids
