I like the looks of your fresh water setup better. As of right now! But I do like marine fish much more. Like someone stated earlier, once your marine tank matures, I am sure it will look much better. The colors of marine fish are so much more vibrant and varied more than any fresh water fish. I think you made the right choice. Good luck with your new set up.

looks good i would only do a few things

I would put the filter intake closer to the corner, move the filter return a little higher to the surface and use it for a bit of surface tension break, and I would move the heater down a bit to just be in line with the rock unless the rock is right against the back of the tank then I would move the heater to the side.

the only reason why I would do this is to give a bit clear line of sight to the tank good flip over

heya

I like the marine tank but move that heater lol :)

it will look great with some corals! also i think after a bit of scaping it will look brill :good:

i love the look of a marine tank, however i simple dont have time to maintain one, nor worry about.

I hear people say, a fw/tropical tank is 10%maintance and 90% enjoyment, but with saltwater, its the other way around.....nice but not for me

hello

thanks for all the comments.. just to let you know the heater has been changed to a vertical position on the right. and i have just picked up another 20kg of live rock to go in the tank and external filter.. so the rocks will be going higher up the back and maybe a few on the left hand side..

once all that is done i shall be venturing into the coral side..

i do like the tropical set up but was more of a move for the different kinds of fish then the look really..

Try to make a focal point, add lots of colors, use multi-colored backgrounds, have a hilly substate, and if you have two lights with two panes of glass on each side of the aquarium example a 55g have the lights diagonal on each side one light on the front pane and one on the back pane so you can highlight your focal point and have the other side fade away this all helps me design my aquarium.

WOW that sounds quite interesting at the moment i have 2 42" light tubes. one blue (marine) one purple

as the tank looks in the pics i have added another 10kg of Live rock so the heater has been moved to the right in a vertical position and the live rock is stacked higher.. i may stack some on the left aswell but not sure if that would look too much.. ne thoughts??????
